“ show me your maintenance records”
I will try to request the technical backup from AMZ/OIL, as I have no skin in the game here will be interesting to see what they send back if anything, or is it just a marketing ploy, smoke and mirrors.
Why not show them your records. It's no big deal to take a pic of your stuff anymore and save it on your phone. If you buy on line you most likely have the email, if you dump your waste our place needs an appt I have slips for that. I do OA on my stuff have the slips for that. None of this for me is in a nice binder but some basic digging I can assemble it in a day or so.
Carfax wise you can for sometime enter your own records and upload supporting documents on the "mymaintenance" area. Name could have changed.
I have a "dealer approved" place for oil changes, whatever that marketing term means, they are all ASE certified in something there. They have have that paperwork as well and I will ask if they save their records next time I'm in.
Agree the dealer network is thin on good help and a big issue for me, I have a FCA dealer .1 miles from my shop, have a Chevy dealer .2 miles from my shop, I travel 30 miles to my FCA and 35 miles to my Chevy dealer, because of service and sales issues at my local places, find a different dealer who will try to support you. When they turn over plan on moving it's a hassle, I really don't want to use a warranty ever, rather not have issues at all.
