I have an 06 and I am about to TST/EZ. I will need a TC and valve body. Is there any way to ask for opinions on who likes what without things getting ugly. Any way to have a pole of who has bought what and who may buy the same thing again? I hope this can work because I really look to you guys alot for answers. Thanks alot!

i have tried the vast majority of trannys on mine and customers trucks, there are a few that perform as they should---which should include price, warranty, and customer service, the last should come first in my oppinion. as for me i ended up with NADP--it has served me well, if i would do another transmission besides NADP, it would be a suncoast transmission. this is for tc and valve body as well. good luck :-laf

I know a local builder that does the same work at much cheaper prices. you can bet the shafts and other hard parts changed are coming from the same vendor/vendors. shop around and find someone reputable. worked for me in the past and saved me tons of money.

Who is the local builder I might know him? I have to recommend Dave Goerend. I have tried one of the local builders VB and I was not impressed, 1-2 shift about blew the rearend out, 2-3 was weak, the lock up clutch comes in great for a single disk, but for a triple disk , no way, way to hard. I pulled it out and put in one of Dave's. the truck shift perfectly. Will get rubber when you tromp it from 1-2. I think you have seen the truck in action before. :-laf

I just installed a Suncoast Converter, VB, flexplate and input shaft in a 2000 and man what a difference. His trans was toasted pretty good before the install.

I have the same waiting to go into my 06 but am going to wait and order more parts. Be a shame to take it all apart and not put the good stuff in!

I like suncoast, but mailnly its going to come down to cost and availability for you. Most reputable companies are going to be durable and perform well.

transmission, I have researched the transmission in these trucks for about a year now

A full transmission is going to be an investment of at least 4gs. The big question is what do you intend on with it. Pull, Drag, Tow... ... ... ... ... ... WHat kind of power are you talkin?

Dave Goerend is perhaps the nicest guy i have ever talked to... ... ..... He had even been honest enough to suggest me going to another shop... ... ..... Answer soem of the questions toward your future with the truck and Im sure you will figure out who to go to with plenty of opinions

I also am wanting to save for a new transmission. I am wanting to try out a sled or 2, I am wanting to add a couple boxs and injectors. I do know that I want a ATS convertor just not sure on the transmission itself.

I have a full dtt and love the way it feels and shifts. Most big name trans builders are doing a good job it will come down to what you like. I do feel having all the parts matched to one another will make a big difference. Mine is all set custom for me and my truck not just one pulled off the shelf. ;)

find someone local that will stand behind t and roll with it

I personally just laid down 6g for the dtt full transmission setup

found Goerend to be about 5g, suncoast was close to 7g ats about the same

they all seem to be great products. these are installed prices by the way. If you dont plan in going to hard on the hp ive seen guys runnin upwards of 500 hp through stock transmission with tc and vb

that lock up could have been slowed abit with a change. yeah sweet second gear I have to say I do like Goerends stuff. come see me in the plant I will tell you the builders name.

The truck is my daily driver. I do plan on hotrodding a bit. Maybe hit the drags twice a year. It also needs to be able to tow alittle too. I guess I am lcuky because I never really tow over 7 or 8000#. I would like to maybe hit a pull this summer but I do not plan on doing it regularly. So two more questions. Most companys offer a tow and race valve body. I did have the ats stuff in my 04' and the race body did seem a bit harsh even with just single car trailer. I was not misled at all, I guess I got what I asked for. So any opinions on the other brands race vs. tow VB? Also are there any pulls in the NH, MA, VT area. I live in Nashua NH.

I thought the second gear was too harsh, it shifted that hard all of the time. If they could get 2-3 down they would have a decent VB. But they don't seem to understand that they need to work on a little more than just the VB to get it right. I know your in heat treat, but where at in heat treat? The guy that modded our VB his initials are B. R. .

yes his initials are BR, thats mine. I do my own vb's. I thought you may be talking about Bill , but he has not done one for me. I have talked with him several times though. and you can slow the lock up from what he done, as well as change the shifts a lil. austemper (salt furnaces) area controlman. I seen you in 82 if you are going back there I will come see you.

Well I personally prefer the DTT transmission as they have served me very well. The first transmission they built for me in 2000 and was setup for 450 HP, this transmission held over 750 RWHP with no problems. The next one held right at 900 RWHP and performed awsome. Now I have one in a truck that makes over 830 RWHP and is working great!

These trucks were driven daily..... DTT sets up the VB for each individual customer, they also have a large selection of TC to match the customers needs. I am not saying that the other manufactors are not good, I am just saying that my DTT transmission's have held up and are working great.

I've got about 80,000 miles on my ATS Stage IV, and I've never had a single problem with it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! It shifts nice and firm, or nice and nasty if I want to shift locked. I feel I can depend on it--that it won't let me down.

I believe you should talk to the various Trans Rebuilders, and see who you like and trust. For me that was Clint Cannon. He and his family own & run ATS. When I first got my trans there was something Clint could have lied to me about, it would have saved him some money, and I would not have known about it--instead he told me the truth, even though it cost him money. I respect that kind of integrity. It is all too rare in today's society.

I notice @ the web sites the total for a T/C abd VB from ATS is almost 1900 and from DTT its just over 1400. Thats quite a bit different! Any thoughts? I am not oppossed to spending more for a better product.

Is the DTT a Triple disk tq conv like the ATS? I had an ATS with all the works etc in my 98. 5 and loved it and have since sold it to a friend and still going strong, Have heard alot good about the DTT as well but I think its from those whom bought the complete transmission instead of VB and TQ conv

Good luck
