03 4" MegaFlow exhaust on 95?

Score!

With the mods listed in my sig, what turbo do you think would work good for me? I have a HX40 on now but it just gets too hot in low rpms because it doesnt spool worth *****. I dont tow anything, just daily driver and I would like something to spool alittle quicker. I am debating on putting the stock HX35 back on so it will spool quick. Funds arent good enough right now to buy a SPS 62 or anything like that but I have an abundance of stock turbos at the shop lying around. I have heard alot about the 35/40 hybrid and had thought that it could be a possibility. What do you guys think? Once the 40 kicks in on the hwy the egts wont get above 1250 but they get hot quick in the city cause the turbo just wont spool. I need some input please.

Have access to a machine shop? If so, a HTT hybrid kit is probably your least expensive upgrade. About $200. 00, a little time enlarging a couterbore on the center section and your in business.

Our Super B turbo has the bottom response of your 35 and will flow much more air than the HX40. We include a turbo and downpipe in the kit. They are going to be $1265. Give us a call and we can discuss your options.

I had a similar set up as stp. Only with bd 90 hp injectors and the BD super B. It was a far cry from spooling like the stock HY and I could put the egts at 1600 easy with regular comp on 5X5. Now with 155 BD injectors soon to be replaced with Mach 4. and the silver 62 and a drag comp on 5X5 I can't get past 1350.

If you only go to a stage II, there isn't any machining. That's what I'm running, and it works good for me. Like Lloyd said, it's a good compromise.

And it doesn't cost an arm, and a leg.

Something must have been wrong. The egts you are seeing are way higher than that setup runs. What was the wastegate opening at? Sounds like either a leak, or the wastegate was opening early.

I checked all the usual culprits and found no leaks. wastegate opened at around 38psi. I talked to the dealer I got it from with no other ideas either. I have since sold the turbo and traded up to BD 155 injectors that lope intermitantly and smoke to bad for my liking.

I love my 35/40 as well, what it lacks in flow up top the B2 turbo makes up for... :-laf

Seriously though, with all things considered, the 35/40 would be a cheap option for a good compromise.

And you can always add another turbo to it... ;)

exactly. Thats my plan too. Im probably going to sell the 14WG housing, run an external gate and a S400 below it.

In the mean time, I love the hybrid. I tow the 5th wheel (~32') and the boat behind it (74' total) and the dodgezilla works great. I highly reccomend it if you are not planning on running nitrous or something with it, and you take care not to bark it to often.
