Bob V, I know that you have been a TDR member for a LONG time and have contributed ALOT to this forum...that being said, both AH64ID and cerbusiam DO work on Cummins motors and have PLENTY of experience fixing and diagnosing these trucks. They are FAR from newbies simply spouting what they read on the internet. Furthermore, they are NOT calling your truck inferior, they are simply saying that the 6.7 CTD with the vgt turbo IS far more susceptible to the HG blowing when power mods are added to the equation. Furthermore, they are NOT alone in saying this, other experienced mechanics have come to the same conclusion. Sorry, but I don't know why you are having such a hard time understanding this one.

If you think it is BS then offer some proof that contradicts it instead of the typical HB-isms you seem so fond of.
 
Okay so i decided to go with a silver bullet, and 120hp tips also installing line pump and removing factory fuel filter. My new question, what size turbo should I go with? they offer 3 different sizes. ( also I will be replacing or having transmission upgraded)
 
A 66 is probbaly what is needed for the big end. Gonna be a bit laggy spooling with an auto, not so bad with a manual. When you go that big almost need compounds to have any chnace of dual use.

I agree, the silver series is laggy all around but with his goals it's probably okay as a single, being a 6.7. I wouldn't recommend it for a dd on a 5.9 without custom tuning.

I wouldn't run a 66 on a 5.9 as a DD, but it sounds like the 6.7 guys are lighting them without a lot of issues.
