been driving my 93 i picked up a few weeks ago goes great i can get 24psi boost and it puffs alittle smoke under load my egts stay below 1100. i have a 3200 gov spring to put in and might play with pump a little more, it has a fuel pin but previous owner didn't know what kind. i was wondering if a 14cm non wastegate housing would help and maybe cooler tubz. i don't have money for a turbo now and i don't think my wifes that genorous, just looking for some economical upgrades fo xmas list thanks brad greene

The 14cm would be okay if you don't tow heavy, if you do the 16cm would be the better choice. In my totaly unbiased opinion the CoolerTubz would be a good performance add on. ;):D

wondering what a 16cm would due to my numbers, i do occationally tow around 14k. also wondering if you sell a install kit for tubz on stock intercooler.

The first mod I made was a 16 housing. I highly recommend it. I also tow 12-15k on occasion. With that mod, you can turn your fuel up a little and still be ok with EGT's.

Sorry but I do not sell an installation kit for them. Ebay is where I bought the 2 1/2" to 3" reducers for mine. If you would like I can send more information on the CoolerTubz to you, if I haven't sent it to you already. .

I'd take a die grinder to the inlet of the 18. 5 and get a cold side upgrade- maybe a 6 or 8 wheel 60mm impellar and housing kit from HTT or Gillette. The porting will help your spool up, the bigger impellar will bring in extra air, though I dont think you really need it right now.

Your peak numbers sound good to me, though. If you want more power, add more fuel, though you are on the upper limit of turbo efficiency.

If you are concerned about the smoke under load, you injectors could be dirty, and not performing up to snuff. I have had some 130K trucks that had TERRIBLE atomization and pop pressures; other trucks with 300k were spraying perfectly. With stock injectors, all air connections tight, you should see no more than a slight haze under hard acceleration. Exception to this is if you are hitting it at lower RPM, and the turbo hasnt spooled yet.

i dont mind smoke i was going to buy some pod inj from pdr when i have extra cash. my truck does have 203k on it so i was also going to check valve adj and possibly clean fuel sys, a shop i used to work at has a BG fuel system cleaner, i never noticed any difference on the customers truck but i figure it couldn't hurt. thanks brad greene

I have mentioned this before and you might consider it... I bought my wife a Turbo upgrade last Christmas and a New muffler for her birthday.

Coolside increased from 50mm(nonIC) to 58mm wheel and 4" in and out muffler. Works pretty good.

Brad- the BG, et al, cleaners only address one side of the injector problem- deposits. If your injectors are popping 1000 psi too low, it will hurt performance, and nothing in a can will fix it.

I agree with daniel. Had my stock injectors tested and the pop pressures were on the low side with 150K on them. Had some work done to the stockers and pop pressures set. I also have a 16 cm3 housing. I like it alot for what I do with the truck... . towing 10K around.

Dave.

Yeah, that guy must be in his 2nd. childhood... . hey wait a minute your talking about me!!!;) Guess I never did grow up!:D
