Stock Injectors 4 Sale on Ebay

Just curious. Have never driven a F-550 or F-650 and wanted to know how ford was keeping all that "cummins torque" under control. More concerned with automatics,if they offer them in the F-550 or 650.

The F550 is similar in design to the F350/F450 and therefore still has the V10 or Powerstroke as its engine choices, and thus Ford's 4EOD or whatever automatic they use.

The F650 and up, however, have various transmission options from what I've seen. The most common ones are a 7-speed manual and the Allison 6-speed. The ISB in those trucks is rated at 275/660 if I remember correctly.

What's interesting is that in the F650/750 trucks, the more powerful engine is one of the Cat motors. IMO the way to go is with a Freightliner FL60 or FL70, with the 8. 3L Cummins (ISC) and the Allison 6-speed, which I believe is rated at 325 hp and 800 lbs-ft.

The AT in the F450/550 is the 4R100, virtually identical to that in the 250/350... Only difference is in electronics. The Cummins is not available in the Fords until you get to the F650/750 medium-duty trucks. Here's how it breaks down:

Cummins ISB (standard engine):

175, 190, 195 HP ratings

420-620 lb-ft TQ

(They are planning a 260/660 version for Dec. delivery)

PowerStroke (optional):

210 HP rating

520 lb-ft TQ

Caterpillar 3126B (optional):

190, 210, 230, 250 HP ratings

520-660 lb-ft TQ

Transmissions, 9 available:

--Two Eaton 5-speed manuals

--Two Eaton 6-speed manuals

--Two Spicer 7-speed manuals

--One Allison 4-speed automatic

--One Allison close-ratio 5-speed automatic

--One Allsion wide-ratio 6-speed automatic

***Also, new for 2001 is a 2-speed rear end.

Hope this answers your questions...

I want one

But I was wondering if the electronics would hook up the same? I think fo rmyself I would go with the 6 sp auto if all would work well. If I can't find out here, I will have to go to the phord dealership and try to find a knowledgeable guy.

Check out the size and weight of the Allison 3060 6-speed auto before you get too excited. I'm sure the price will scare you.

Where do I check all this info out at? I don't even know what size my auto before was. what is the stock size and where can i find out for sure what will fit and what wont.

A guy could make a bundle if.........

He was able to make a kit that would put the Allison Auto in a dodge manuel or auto P/U.

Or if Allison were to offer a bolt up auto transmission and the only mod's were crossmember and driveshaft mods.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Then the wife could start towing the 5th while I sleep. . LOL

If anyone is interested in a MD3060 Allison, there is one on Ebay at this time.

It came from a motorhome with about 50,000 miles on it and was on an ISC Cummins and comes with the housing and computer.

This one has a Buy It Now price of $6,000.

I kick myself for not buying a ZF 6 speed Ecomat that was on Ebay a while back. This one was new and had been used in prototyping up some vehicle. It was complete with cooler and computer. This is comparable to the MD Allison, and the Ebay ad stated that it cost near $10,000. I figured that it would bring a couple of thousand, but it went for only a little over $500.

If you want to use a MD Allison, you will probably need to raise your transmission hump in your floor about 4 or 5 inches.

These are great transmissions but are expensive.

Never realized those MD's where that high. I've always wanted one though. I've seen them on a dispay and their pretty tough looking.

Anyway, I had a AT-545 in one of my trucks. Stewart-Stevenson could exchange you an AT-545 for about $1300. And you can't beat that 3 year unlimited mileage warranty! I'm not sure what the price would be with out a core.
