What used 5th wheel would you recommend to your mother?

How old would it be?

Don't want to afford a new one.

5th wheel

It would be a 96 or newer Newmar American Star with 16" wheels and 7000 pound axles, well if it was for my mother she could get by with the smaller wheels and axles as she wouldn't be moving around much. bg

Would a 1998 American Star 5er 32RK, 2 slides and the 16" wheels and tires work?????? Fresh detail, fresh clear coat, fresh PDI, blues inside... ... ... ... ... ... ... side bath

Check out the Alpenlite fivers made in Yakima, WAshington. We have a neighbor that has a 96' 30' Alpenlite and he has never had to take the rig in for warranty work. Some small issues he has been able to repair without much effort. We currently have a Keystone Product and have not been happy with the fit and finish of the rig. The quality control and "quality" of the rigs are outstanding, to say the least. I would recommend that you look for a 2001 model year or later. They went to a new finish in 01' and the "glass" tends to not dull out near as fast. We stopped in Chehalis, Wash. (around m. p. 72, I think) and checked out the Alpenlites' at Uhlman's RV. They are the largest Alpenlite dealer and have good prices and customer service. I am on their list for a used Alpenlite. Their inverter package is a great deal, with a solar panel and very sophisticated panel that monitors batteries, etc. I belive Alpenlite has a web site if you want to check out the models. The floor plans have not changed that much. Best of luck.

I just sold a beautiful 92 34' King of the road with living/dining room slide out with free standing dinette to a person that intends to live in it full time. I would not buy a rear kitchen model if you plan to go on the road. Nothing stays in place.

Mine had the center kitchen and torqueflex axles. Everything sitting on the counters in the kitchen area stayed in place. This included coffee pot, toaster, toaster oven, flowers etc.

It also had an entry door on both sides. If you saw unwanted company coming, you could slip out the back door.

Loved it but love my slide in since I can pull my boat.
