When I changed my prefilter the other day and removed the screen(that was clean) it appeared to be metal in the bowl. When I ran a magnet through it it did not stick so I am thinking maybe aluminum? When I swirled the diesel around the bowl you could see the sun reflect off of it. My fuel places are heavily used by big trucks. Anyone else ever get weird things out of their prefilter?? THANKS

RedNut, I wouldn't doubt if what you saw was debris from one of the many pumps that the fuel went though before it before it made it to your tank. Most fuel pumps are made with aluminum and bronze parts that do wear out over time. All I've ever found on my prefilters are specks of black plastic, probably leftovers from manufacturing the tank.

What I think you are seeing in your pre-filter is --- aluminum shavings from the fuel tank module. If you've ever seen one out of the tank ... you will notice that the module is somewhat spring loaded and moves inside your fuel tank. I wouldn't get too worried about the shavings ... I've seen them in mine. I had to replaced the fuel tank module a couple of years ago because the fittings broke when I was changing my third sending unit ...
