All Cummins engines factory installed at Dodge are 6B series engines. The 24 valve in the 98. 5 to 2002 are called ISB and the newer 24 valve engines from 2003 up are ISBe engines the previous 12 valve engines are 6BT.
6B = naturally aspirated 6 cylinder
6BT = Turbo Charged 6 cylinder
6BTA = Turbo Charged / After Cooled 6 cylinder
When Cummins specifies an engine as aftercooled that means there is a cooler that is part of the engine, not a seperate intercooler such as we have on the 91 to 2004 trucks. Typically this after cooler is a water to air cooler.
