My first car (1984) was a 1969 VW Bug. 1641 cc, dual port shaved heads, cam, bug spray carb, and loud exhaust. Quick car street light to street light especially on wet cruise nights. :-laf

The only specialty tools you needed were, floor jack, TQ wrench, and a feeler gauge. Life was simple.

Oh, remember the back seat came out. That came in handy next to a camp fire on the beach with my favorite honey. :-laf

1969 Olds Delta '88

My first car was a 1969 Olds Delta '88 with the 455 Rocket. And it was. Got it in 1986.

I also had a 1970 Olds Delta '88 Holiday coupe. It only had 40,000 when I got her in 1993. (455 too)

My grandparents gave me an '83 Mazda B2000 pickup, that my great grandpa had owned. Rusty, but a goody. Only got to drive it for a year. I got tall enough I couldn't get into it, let alone drive it anymore.

First one I bought was a Ford F-250 w/ a 400 V-8. Wish I had kept it, and sold the diesel instead. Much better truck, even though it had 50k more miles on it.

'76 Datsun Looooooongbox 2wd p/u in '88. Faded pumpkin orange. With those old style bias ply snow tires, the burnouts were hoppity-hoppity-hop :-laf

Then in '89 I bought a '76 Datsun 510 with custom air conditioning in the trunk floor and optional sheepskin seat covers. It had a mean backfire so it was fun driving by bus stops and shifting  (yes I was an immature teenager). I bought it for $400 then blew the headgasket 1 year later. I barely made it to a scrap yard as the engine started dying to collect my $50.

1981 Chevy Chevette, 1. 3L 4 cyl. dark brown and only 26,000 mi on the odometer when I got it in 1995. Drove it like I stole it for about 30,000 miles then bought my 97 Ram 1500.

My first car was a '55 Chevy 4-door. 235 slant 6 and 3 on the tree. Lots of good times in that car, but my second was a whole lot more fun.

'65 Mustang 2+2, High-Performance 289 & a 4-speed. There's just something about 271 V-8 horses in a 2600 lb car Oo. It would do 55 mph in 1st gear!

Yes, it was also (potentially) the most dangerous to my health.

I had a late 70's (maybe 77?) blue Renault R-17 Gordini. It was a cool little car with a slide back roof (little nylon gears broke often). Three lug nuts per tire. Rode very nicely and quite a bit of spunk. Never saw another one. Looked like this one (the red one) but with the roll back roof.

I had a 1990 Dodge Ramcharger, with the 360, white 4x4. That thing was in perfect condition, I really loved that truck. :{ I would kill to find it again and swap in a Cummins.

1956 Chevrolet Apache pickup, 327, 4 bbl, 3 spd. . Engine/transmission out of a 70 El Camino. . Primer Gray. No heat, no radio, driver door wouldn't open, passenger window wouldn't roll down. .

Bought in 76, sold in 78,, looked like a pos but ran like the proverbial ape,,, I was lucky not to have killed myself in it!! :D

1953 Dodge Coronet - Flathead 6 - Clutch w/hydrostatic transmission. Ugly green. $150. I was 14.

Upgraded to a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere w/318 - pushbutton 2 speed automatic. One owner - the dealership owner's wife. Ugly green. $250. I was 18.

(1981)1972 Ford Grand Torino with a 351 Cleveland... ... ... ... ... ... . what a hunk of junk, leaked oil, leaked power steering fluid, leaked water, lasted just long enough to get a newer not quite so used truck. It was 1985 before I could afford my first new real truck. A 1/2 ton Ram with a slant six under the hood... ... . still got a six but everything is a little bigger now :-laf

First vehicle was a 1987 Dodge Ram 150 with the 225 slant six. Oh boy was that thing a speed demon. My dad still drives and it's closing in on 200k miles. My next vehicle was a 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport, Club cab, 318 v8, 5 speed 4x4 that I ordered. That thing was like a rocket ship compared to the 87 Ram. Now I have my 02 Cummins. I guess I like Dodges.

1969 Dodge Coronet with a 318. Should have kept it but sold it to buy Dodge Aspen R/T which turned out to be junk. Worse car I ever owned. Live & learn. :)

When I traded my 85' in it was at over 200k and still ran like a champ. My next vehicle was a 93' RamCharger (318) which I still own and has 260+k on it(niether ever saw a repiar shop for anything other than body work and the engine and transmissions were/are still untouched except for standard maintenance).

Mine was a like-new 1934 Chevrolet four-door Standard bought in 1951. I didn’t keep it long as these cars had a very deficient light-weight transmission and on a trip over Monarch Pass, Colorado the transmission began to growl. I traded it for a 1935 Plymouth business coupe.

I wish I could go back and hand pick the keepers that I didn’t really appreciate back in the “dark ages :D ;” the Plymouth, ’41 Chevy two-door, 1940 Ford coupe, 1938 Chevy convertible; 1949 Packard 120, 1969 Camaro Rally Sport convertible, 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk, 1954 Chevy five-window ½ ton, etc. Oh, well . . .

My first was a 1978 dodge W200 M880 military series pickup. I loved that thing it was a tank, 4. 10 gears, no power on anything but brakes and steering, 360 police interceptor motor with factory thermoquad 4 bbl, i swapped out some parts like carb and intake for better edelbrock equipment, gave it to my brother after i bought my 02, he blew the motor now it has a 318 fit for a circle track, lol. MY second car is a 1974 dodge charger with a 318, i am trying to sell it for lack of time and money to work on it, and i figure i could use the money in my new truck to gain some performance, lol. I loved both of my first vehicles there will never be anything that will equal the first.

1990 3/4 chevy faltbed. 350 with about 300,000 on it. Spent almost 6 years in high school between my brother and I; not easy years as you can imagine :-laf . the amazing thing is that it still runs and pulls trailers. That 350 is invicible.

mine was a 1984 Chevy K20 pick-up, Flame red with tonnue cover, 33" tires with American Racing outlaw wheels. Also had a Fisher plow! I love that truck, but I ended up getting rid of it, because my 16 year old budget couldn't keep up with the fuel bill
