Does anybody have any old sales brochures. I was curious what our trucks were supposed to get originally. Only the gas version is listed on the EPA's fuel economy site. Even then a brochure might not have it since they were work vehicles.

I have sales lit for '93, but it is not mentioned. At that time, the EPA estimates weren't applicable on pickup trucks. Think it was the same deal in '97. IIRC, I have original paper that was on the window when new. Wasn't listed there, either.

I don't think they rate the diesel for mileage because of the engine/weight class? I know my '06 sticker gives no estimate, nor have any of the stickers for Dodge diesels that I have seen.

If I recall correctly, the owner's manual mentions something about 600-700 miles on a tankful; that would equate to 20-23 mpg. I bought my rig from my father and he kept all the paperwork and literature from when he bought it new in '92. After all my mods I'm getting nowhere near that kind of mileage. But then again... . I live on a rock and it's comparable to city driving and also, living in the tropics mandates the use of the A/C daily. :-laf

Aloha,

EPA mileage estimates traditionally haven't applied to vehicles with GVWRs greater than 8500 lbs. That is apparently about to change!

It's not tradition, it's law. Originally fuel economy standards applied only under 6000lbs. That got raised some years ago to 8500 (I think) as large SUVs proliferated. But none of those have ever applied to a CTD. Yet.
