I bought a boost elbow for my truck to try and combat the egt rise from the ddII's what will happen if i just use the elbow and don't have a boost fooler for several months. is it a good idea to use one without a fooler box.
I THINK that if it detects boost over a preset limit (20#) that it goes into limp mode because it thinks something is wrong with the boost system unless you have a boost fooler (EZ, COMP or something to keep the max boost the engine ecm is seeing at or below 20#).
Don't do it without a boost fooler, your engine will de-fuel with more than ~21 lbs of boost. Get yourself a fueling box to do the "fooling" before you install it.
Like they said - bad idea. Over boost, code P0237, will set the Check Engine Light and put your truck into limp mode. Do a search on boost foolers or better yet, get an Edge EZ or comparable from the TDR classifieds. A box that adds timing, such as the EZ, will also help with EGTs.
i am workin on gettin a comp, just waiting on the money, i blew my wad of dough on the injectors, now it looks like christmas will be box time, as i doubt i can get one for 100. 00
