I have a chance at buying a 1992 loaded 4X4 Dodge reg. cab with the Cummings. It is a one owner and has 63,000 miles on it. New paint, ready to go. Plus it is an auto. . The price is $10,000. 00.

Fellow members, please tell me why I should buy or why I should stay away.

I have a 01 with twins and want a second truck for every day use.

Thanks!

Mike

GET IT... That is one very rare engine ;) :-laf :D

Seriously, the older ones in good condition with low miles are getting harder and herder to come by. Do the KBB & NADA thing. I'm sure others will chime in with recommendations and comments. Do you have pictures available?

I can get pictures. My buddy is a service manager at a Dodge dealership and this came in on trade. The dealer has done all the maintainance on this from the time it was new. I feeling that I can't go wrong, but I still would like other to help, as I really know nothing on that year and motor.

Make an Offer

Make a cash offer of $ 8,000 fight haggle, snort, make lots of noise, wait 24 hours, but buy it at best offer they come up with. If this is their 1st offer they will take less. Just don't wait a week, it will be gone. R C

I wouldn't walk off without a signed contract on it. A couple of years ago my brother in law traded his 92 W250 in. It was clean, one owner with 120k on it. It sold within one hour after it hit the used lot at the dealership.

In my humble opinion... get it. My fiance finds it funny that as I'm driving down the road drooling over the new dodge's, they are crankin there necks drooling looking like "did I just see that old dodge diesel ?!?"

Why not indulge

Hey that is one awsome truck because thats what i have except its and ext. cab. I would try to bring down the price a bit but the first generation dodges are sweet rides. :) Go for it Let us know how it goes.

Todd

Yeah they are getting really hard to find. It probably wont sit there for too long even with the 10K price tag. Offer less and see what they say. Then go from there.

If it has 63K why does it have new paint? I'd hold out for a 5 sp, but that's just me. Keep in mind you could have a 2nd gen for the same price...

If it is white or metallic, that will tell you why it has been repainted. Buy it and sell it on EBAY for 12,000. They have been absolutley crazy lately. I would prefer the manual, but that is just a preference. Glen

My truck had 85k on it when I got it and it needed paint. I think the thing was allergic to silver, so I had it painted all white.

My first white 91 D250 had about as much paint gone as present, a great running diesel though with no rust!

My current 91 W350 was light metallic blue with a darker blue insert in the sides. Pretty truck on the right side, peeling on hood, roof and left side. Currently getting ready to paint. Another great running diesel.

I have a nice red 93 with a lot of badly faded areas, the red problem that red always had. It runs okay, does not have near the power or fuel economy of the other two. Fires right up, even below zero, uses no oil, runs really quiet in comparision, just does not make a lot of power. It is fine for what I use it for and it still gets right around 20 mpg most of the time.

I have noticed that a lot of the white and light metallic colors, like silver Dodges have that peeling going on. It is not limited to first gens either, we see a lot of them up to 2000 with the peel problem.

That's okay though, we can buy paint! Glen

$10k for a regular cab?????????? Give me a break. Let it go. I could care less about low miles. Everybody always gets excited over 40k actual!!! 63k actual one owner etc. !!! Now if it were a extended cab, then maybe.

Nothing like the rugged lines of a 1st gen standard cab 4x4. Strong, simple and beautiful all in one package. A truck for people who want to move stuff instead of people. Stepping off soapbox now :-laf

Yep! Nothing quite like it, sort of like driving a 53 Corvette or a 64 GTO or a 65 SS396 Chevelle, or a 67 Z/28 Camaro, there is a certain air of prestige to driving one of the originals of a legendary breed. :-laf Glen
