darin its a tough choice , if you keep the auto you need to do a couple things and that requires about 2500 bucks , they include a TC and VB (anyone care to guess which I'D recommend ? ) #ad

also a set of injectors like DD1's and DD true torque module , perfect combo . it will turn that ram into the perfect towing vehicle for many happy years to come , if i had to buy again , i'd buy another automatic , and i hated mine when i first got it . #ad

Right, & like Pete says, the 6sp ETH has alot of power out of factory. That means its easier to keep the warranty w/o doing alot of mods. But true, the 6sp is alot of shifting, but alot of us like that.

There's nothing wrong with the auto. It's well underrated. I've got 28,000 miles on mine,pulling the loads your looking at,and no problems,and it has plenty of power.

I waited for my warranty to run out brfore up grading the trans with the DTT mods. after getting them if I had it to do over I would have them put in ASAP.

I'd buy the HO 6 speed, but then nobody's ever accused me of being finacnially responsible.

Well, the decision has been made. I'm going back to the 5 sp. I pick it up this evening. I really don't want to sink money into the auto to make it what I want. The 5 sp will do as is. I'm getting some cash back that I can apply toward gauges and power mods when and if I decide later I want a little more go.

Thanks for all your posts. I'm getting the 5th wheel hitch installed tomorrow and will probably tow with it this weekend. I'll post my opinions.
