Heres the situation. I took my future brother in law to the Fort Collins Dyno day on Saturday as he is planning on selling his heavily modified (and very fast) Pontiac Grand Prix to get a Diesel truck. Based on watching the CTD's run and seeing the incredible HP these engines made with a relatively small investment as compared to the PSD that ran I think he is converted from his previous thinkings of buying a Duramax (major chevy guy)

I dont know hardly anything about the 12 valve trucks for bombs but am guessing based on the $$ he can spend for the truck and then bombs he will get a 97 or so 12 valve. If you were in his shoes and wanted a 380-425 hp daily driver what would you bomb? This truck wont see heavy or long towing but more of a daily driver with some in town miles. I know what to help him with about the gauges and transmission bombs already. This truck will get ran so what would you do?

Thanks catoiler. Unfortunately your truck wont work out for him. Need 4x4 for what we do out here in Colorado.

Thanks Phillip, I'll tell him to send case an email.

Still havent heard any giving out the secrets to making these things run real hard.

Anyone???

Call a few of the power vendors like PDR. Have him tell them what he's after and write the check.

In the case of my truck (which should be in that ball park except for a few issues) an PDR HX-40, "recalibrated" injector pump (take it off and send it to PDR), GSK, injectors, clutch or auto trans mods and a better flowing air filter set up and exhaust. He will also be in the neighborhood of needing a 24 valve intercooler.

Fuel Gage broke

My fuel Gage stays on full all the time.

It doesn't return to E when the key is off.

Occasionally when the truck is really low it goes down to 3/4.

I just replaced the fuel sender in the tank last year because it used to stay on E. It worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.

Needless to say they way I found out about this new error was a real bummer.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

John

Cool, I'll let him know. Anyone want to be a really fast Pontiac Grand Prix? Brodex head (sp), Injectors, the whole works. Its a fun car.

The 24 valve intercoolers flow more (which reduces EGT) and at the power lever you mentioned he will be in the range where that might be needed. They can be had on e-bay for a reasonable amount or PDR sells new ones much cheaper than the dealer.
