took apart an old broken ve the other day, and my buddy and i got to thinking about how to make these things flow more fuel. i'm not sure what you'd call it, maybe the "collector" or something, seems like it could be enlarged. i'm talking about the little slit that the pic shows a measurement of. what we were thinking, was that this could be made wider, (maybe bump it up to 2 mm?) which would then take more fuel into the stroke. can any of you guys second that idea? or are we way off with this one?

more fuel good!

dave

Well I say if you equip that plunger thingy to gulp more fuel, you'll have something there. That's all my agent will allow me to say at this time Dave. :)

Scott

Dave ,You have access to a pump bench test stand? Makes life easier to R&D. Or should I call it R$D :)

My pump shop will test an experimental pump for $225. 00

Scott

well, the closest pump shop is 3 hrs away. not sure about them though. not exactly the nicest folks and i was told that a 366 spring does NOT exist. and the ONLY mod you could do to the pump was was turn the power screw in 1 turn. MAYBE, if you're REALLY lucky, you would be able to get 1 1/2 turns out of it. they are also a turbo shop that said they would send my turbo to htt to have done what i did myself.. so anyway, i don't really have access to a test stand.

Dave, since it's a spare part, I say give it a go.

Now here's a related question for anybody to chime in on... maybe it's stupid but since that's my strong suit I'll ask anyway... .

IF you had a "CC cup", could you:

Set the fuel control at "full" and tick the engine over and collect a "squirt" from one of the injector lines and measure the amount? Maybe you'd have to pump 30 psi (false boost) into the anerometer to move the fuel pin?

Would that tell anything?

From looking at some diagrams... I think changing the width of the slot would change the timing of that section of the pump. Where it's dumping out to the ports on rotation.

Questions  . Would it also change the pressure? Possibly making it lower, since that's where it it's getting pressurized? Bigger area, more volume, less pressure. Or would the pressure stay the same?

Den

j, that'd work huh? (sometimes i make myself wonder).

den, those are the same things i'm wonderin'. let's see what we can come up with.
