I just noticed that they no longer make the extended cabs with the hidden door-handle type doors. When did this happen? I always thought this was kinda neat with teh suicide type doors, and it also looks like the truck was shorter than the newer ones with four full doors. Any ideas why D/C decided to change what I thought was a good thing

'02 for the 1500s and '03 for the 2500s and 3500s. The new doors are nice because you do not have to open the fronts to put stuff in, the cab is also slightly bigger.

It all changed with the 3rd generation and I agree with Bertram65, they are much better then the suicide doors. I love my Quad Cab and for those that complain about the back seat being too small compare to a furd, I think it's just right. Of course I don't have young kids or a mother-in-law to haul around.

I've had both and would never go back. Trying to load stuff in the back seat when parked in the grarage was a real pain. You had to open both the front and rear doors to access the back seat, but then you couldn't get past the doors to get more stuff. The 3rd gen cab is 3" longer than the 2nd gen. For the short box, this was taken from the box. for the long box, the truck is 3" longer. Now, the mega cab is a whole 'nother screw-up IMHO.

Thanks guys for the info, its appreciated. 3" longer isn't bad, it just looks longer I guess because the lines are changes. I never thought of that, but like you say, opening the suicide doors in a tight spot could be a real pain. Thanks again guys.
