trade in value
May be I could explain the differences in what Swamp Donkey had and what is currently on the market.
The early BD convertor stator design was milled to improve the fluid coupling but fell short in the the efficiency that it transfers rpm to the trany, the lock up clutch was modified with a larger clutch surface from stock but still could only hold about 500 ft lbs of torque.
The current BD 7X design has 4 different stators that have been machined to match hp from 160 right through 500, efficiency was accomplished through computer designs and then milled on a 5 axis CNC and then tested in the trucks with the applicable hp. It sounds easier that it was to do.
The new front clutch now has 2 clutch surfaces and a new front cover was machined to handle the extra clutch surface and handle the extra clutch load. We now test these clutches with 1000 ft lbs of torque in our sled pulling trucks which lock up the convertor in low range. Our transmission and convertor equiped trucks are often winning the events.
Those that have the earlier design convertors and are still with in 2 years of the purchase date can receive a 200. 00 retail credit towards the purchase of the 7x convertor.
The BD valve bodies have also gone through many modifications in the last year, much better shifting patterns, 2nd gear lock up, increased oil flow etc. Any one that is having a problem with there BD valve body that has been purchased with in the last 2 years is still covered by parts warranty and can contact our transmission warranty department. Steve would be glad to help you out.
Sorry that we could not have todays technology 2 years ago but we all learn to built better products with time.
