Biodiesel again....

Oil use puzzel??

Got mine because ford and chevy look and act sick with the kind of weight I move with my truck. Oh yeah, ford and chevy wouldn't last either to the abuse I put my truck through.

I needed something that could take the abuse I give it. I beat the crap out of my truck every day, day in, day out. Occasionally I pull a fairly heavy trailer. Most of the time it's just used to haul @$$

Y-Knot: a "man's truck" my butt! I LOVE being a woman who owns a Cummins! It surely blows the socks off any man (or woman) that I meet. It's absolutely amazing how many people are STUNNED that I (a) drive a Cummins and (b) can actually back up my horse trailer and not kill any innocent bystanders...

Just got back from a week of horse training at Pat Parellis in Colorado. Of the 65 trucks there 41 were Cummins! (we actually went out and counted one night)

Move over, Gentlemen, women love that raw power too!

I got mine for a toyhauler and it keeps me busy keeping it shiney. I got the '04. 5 for more power, more room and less noise than my '01. 5.

So, diesel gives economy. Heavy front end demands 4wd.

So, thats how I wound up with mine.

I use mine for running moonshine and hauling illegal aliens. :-laf You gotta have a diesel for that...

When you're 150 miles down the hwy from any town larger than 2 people and 50 miles down a dirt road that may not see anyone for a day or two, you want RELIABILITY.

I bought my 4x4 Dodge for hauling a cabover to remote Baja beaches. I needed a 4x4 that could carry 1800lbs and still be competent off road.

The other reason was the fuel economy, cause It's also my daily driver.

Work truck, daily driver, hay (and whatever else neds hauling)hauling, puling horses and cattle here and around, pull starting tractors. I originally got it (traded a 92 W250 + cash to me) to pull a 40ft G-N flatbed hauling hay, but we never could get the brakes working on the trailer. Figure 10 tons of hay needs its own brakes.

I had a 6. 9 Ford turd that I got tired of polishing. Cummins had the best reputation for longevity and reliabilty. I've onwed some real gems , but they start in the cold of winter or heat of summer, get MPGs that rival the car for overall cost per mile (I'm "down" to 19/20. 5 from 21/23), and they can TAKE A BEATING. I'm hard on mine, simply because I know it can handle it and keep on going. I dont abuse it, but when I hook onto a load of 15 bales of hay (round not square), I go the speed limit (and then some on the hills as long as EGTs stay in check), just to make the 350/454 crowd take notice and drool.

Used to be my only vehicle, then I got some toys(two more red dodges) and a company truck(ford, thank goodness it doesn't have a p-joke in it), so my truck sits more often then I'd like. It does start and run, run hard every time I need it too. I use it to haul my toys, my kids, and sometime my friends on the weekends.

I aquired it because I knew it would do everything I needed it to do, and most of the stuff I wanted it to do. Its a first gen that turns heads, smokes small blocks and pulls like a semi truck!

Towing and hauling about 60% of the time. I haul tractors, building supplies, pallets of lime, plants, trees and an RV when I have one. . etc...
