I think your spooling directly related to your fuelling. The reason is, you say it takes a second to get going, then once it goes, it gets to max boost, right? Or did I miss something? I may need you to go over that part of the report again. If it is smoking, then taking off, your pump may need refreshed. The pump can have a HUGE effect on your EGT, MPG, boost, etc. I got the pump redone on my 91, and I gianed 4mpg, cut smoke to nil, and added a LOT of bottom end. Then I loosened the AFC.
Also, what is your timing set to, and what are your injectors popping at? I checked mine yesterday, and turns out it was at 2. 03mm!!!

I turned it back to stock (for now- gonna see how it affects temps and MPG), but also marked 1. 4 and 1. 6mm while I was at it, so I just have to move the pump if I feel the need. It does run better now than before, though I get some haze at a stop light. I know my inejectors are popping a little higher than stock (like 200psi), but not too much.
Also check your intercooling system. You could have a leak, making for high EGT AND low boost. Pay special attention to the elbow to turbo conection, and tighten all your clamps. Your intercooler can LOOK good, but leak like a seive (Bill and I have both been down that road). On the same vein, how is your air filter? With your fuel and air needs, a BHAF and Old Smoky Mount are in order.
Have you called HTT about your issues and problems? They are the first ones I would have talked to. They wont know you are having problems if you dont tell them.
