Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) What's a boost leak sound like?

Also, if your wastegate is getting pushed wide open, does the air flow through the WG make a different sound?

-Just installed the HTT stage 3 compressor wheel and housing last weekend. First I tried the 16 CM housing I have and the EGT's were still too high. So, I put on the 12 cm housing and am much happier with the temps, but now when I reach around 28 psi, another, lower pitched whine comes in and is present all the way to max boost around 35 psi. I would think it is capable of more, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts?

not positive on the turbo specs. but a boost leak wound most likely sound like a high pitch whistle, depending on where its coming from. if the wastegate was stuck open it would sound different, but would result in no boost. now are you sure that the clearance between the wheel and housing is correct. and I would assume that this would need to be balanced as the rpm a turbo sees is very high. the sound and problem could also be a pre-turbo exhaust leak, you would hear it, and the turbo would lose energy due to reduced exhaust flow and you would see decreased boost pressure.
