I just installed DDP2's on my '96.

With the DDP2's the throttle is *very* sensitive. Just a little bit of pedal gets a puff of black smoke and a surge forward.

When using cruise control at a steady light throttle, like 65 MPH on a flat road, i have a constant surge like I'm tapping the fuel pedal and letting off about once a second.

Is there an adjustment to make the cruise control less sensitive? I can't see anything looking at the shop manual.

I have sort of cured the problem, using a Charlie Systems AntiSurge Valve.

This custom AntiSurge Valve is an item constructed from 2" of rubber vacuum hose and a 1/2" piece of brass tubing from a ball point pen. You crimp the middle of the brass tube almost closed and stuff it into the 2" piece of vacuum hose. This should be such that when you suck on it, it will pass air, but not much.

Then you cut the plastic vacuum tube going to the cruise control and stuff both ends of it into the 2" vacuum hose. This is adjustable, since you can recrimp and uncrimp the brass tube until you get it just right.

This slows down the reaction of the throttle actuation diaphram so it settles down and doesn't keep surging.

Watch for our announcement of more exciting new products! :D

Ahhhh, an oriface! The late 98 24v has the same vaccum system correct? (it is a vaccum system, but I dont know if its the same... )

If this will work, how/where can I get one?

Yeah, the 24V cruise control is the same.

Where can you get one?? You can make one in about 10 minutes!

Like it describes above, get some rubber vacuum tubing like is used in various places under the hood on your truck. You can get a couple feet from the dealer for $3, or get some from your local friendly auto parts store.

Then take apart old ball point pens, until you find one that has a brass tube for the ink refill part - this is about 1/8" diameter. Cut 1/2" off the end of the brass tube and crimp it almost closed in the middle - then stuff the brass tube into the middle of a 2" piece of the rubber hose. This is your vacuum restrictor.

Then, figure out which plastic tubing goes down to the cruise control unit - it's below and just in front of the left side battery. Then cut that plastic tubing and push both ends of the cut plastic tubing into the 2" long rubber hose vacuum restrictor.

It's that easy. :-laf
