I have a friend that wants me to put a 4" straight pipe on his 97, 4x4, Reg. Cab, 5 Speed w/ gear vendors, Cummins truck. Who makes a good system for these trucks? I would like to go with stainless steel if its not a whole lot more money. I'm looking for good fit, quality, and made from a decent gage tubing. Thanks, Alex

I had a MBRP kit on for about 5 mins. and then took it off. It sounded like a V8 w/ turbo mufflers on it. I ordered a Grand Rock Kit , it sounds like a semi now. The Turbo whine is much stronger out the rear and the tubing is of heavier construction. I also noticed with the MBRP (installer series) was that new in the box, it had rust already on it . It was new still in the sealed plastic bag ! The GR kit has been on the truck for a year now and there is no rust at all on the entire system. This was their basic 5 in. kit, nothing special, except stainless tip.

Save your money and go down to NAPA and by some 4" tubing, some clamps, some hangers, and a few adpaters. Will a little work and a welder you can have a sweet sounding exhaust for a fraction of what these comapanies get. No its not stainless but I did my whole 5" exhaust from the DP with a 5" chrome tip for under $100.

Good Luck!

i got my exhaust from Jegs all 304ss for about $400 shipped this was a few years ago but they were by far the cheapest i think summit had a good price too mot sure if either of these places still have them but they were just no name exhaust but all stainless and fit great

Not so sure you had an MBRP, they don't package the system in plastic bags

Mark @ DPPI[/QUOTE] :(

Mark, It was MBRP. I bought it new and was looking for a different "tone".

It came in a long white cardboard box, shrinkwraped , w/ MBPR all over it. I also noted that it was manufactured in Canada, I sold it for 2 hund. bucks to a member in Maryland. He put it on a 02 shortbed 2wd truck . I do believe that he did change a few hangers positions because it hung to low. The part number was #6100al or something, its been a while.
