a snap ring right inside the turbo when you take off the intake tube holds it in and what it is is a piece of metal that directs the air into the turbo so it does not whistle when it is goin in

doesnt hurt anything some people think there is a slight performance gain but prolly not and the whistle is loud if you have a BHAF or an AFE or some other aftermarket filter wont be too loud if you have the stock airbox on

When I found out the truck had one, I yanked it shortly afterwards. :D Sounds niiiiiiice.

The PDR 40 didn't come with one. I think they are too quiet at idle. :(

My silencer ring is MIA

I took mine out around Thanksgiving and still had the stock air box in place and could not hear anything different.

Called Rocky Mountain Cummins as they had the best price along with my Booster Club Discount for the AFE (BHAF). Oo.

I saved the stock air box just in case I need it.

I noticed a little deeper tone with city driving but I'm use to it now.

I can't hear it until the rpm's get going @ about 2m rpm's

I love the turbo sing when under a load and/or going up the long hills in the mountains. :D

Don't forget to purchase an "Outerwears" BHAF Prefilter cover. Nice colors too. ;)

Ha ha it's funny to see how little I knew about these trucks just a little over 1 year ago.

Lets see, in a year, with 2 trucks I've done,

2 LP's

2 VP44's

3 injector swaps

1 SBC FE

1 LuK PG cerametalic

2 NV4500 rebuilds

1 Lukes Link

1 Solid Steel industries sector shaft brace

1 Holley blue pusher

1 Vulcan Big Line

1 ATS 3 piece manifold

1 set of tires :-laf

6 trips to the dyno

And over 100k miles combined ;)

Twins are in the works for the 2000

Not counting I've done 3 VP44's for buddys, did 2 headgaskets, water/meth, it keeps going and going and going... ... ... .....

It's been an expensive year, a bit over 15k in repairs but I don't mind.

I've learned alot and the smile I get on my face every time I lay that throttle down makes it worth every penny!

Plus I know that everythings in good shape for years to come. Hopefully!
