NPR filter

I have a isuzu diesel trooper. I recently purchased a dual spin on NPR remote filter assy for $35.

Anyone consider putting one of these at the rear tank, and then a common good quality regulated electric fuel pump back there? Could the lift pump then be eliminated? Last hurdle would be a water separator.

what you describe with the pump near the tank has been the focus of a number of threads for the last few years. TDR members have been calling it a "pusher pump" and a search for same will give lots of returned threads.

My pressures are

13. 5 at idle

10. 5 at freeway speeds

8. 5 WOT

I started a thread last week about the minimum FP needed to sustain healthey operation of the VP44. I feel my pressures are still definately in the safe zone. But the reason I started the other thread is because I wanted to know how long I could go before replacing the lift pump, because my pressures are starting to fall. The dealer I use will not replace if idleing over 10 psi and not falling below 4 psi at WOT.

once again

My VP was starving for fuel after my last performance mod.

Now I get 12-13psi idle and 7-8psi WOT with DD3's and DDUFM cranked up--on a 35,000 mile old LP.

No extry wires, no extry pump--simply eliminating all FIVE banjos and using AN-8 fittings and 3/8 line from the steel line near the firewall, through the system to the inlet of the VP.

Wildcat sells the kit. search for "maxflow" to find by LONG post on the installation.

Tested mine today, from the pre-filter fitting on the filter housing.

12 PSI at idle

9-10 at highway speeds

6 PSI low at WFO.

I have Bosch 275s, and an early Edge 3 light fueling module.

The above specs are with the module on level 3 (max).

Truck has 46,600 on the original lift pump.

Note. .

I did test my fuel pressure a few weeks ago at the VP44 fitting, and my WFO pressure reading went to almost ZERO at WFO!

Next will be a test with a new fuel filter in a few days.

*edit*

BTW, I got out the G-Tech and did some tests. .

0 to 60 7. 2 seconds

1/4 mile 15. 5 @ 92 MPH! Did three runs and that is the average.

Its pretty easy, FloorIt and I did it. We mounted the Carter pump just forward of the the fuel tank, mounted to the frame rail on the inside. We plumbed in a filter between the tank and pump. A vedry easy job to splice into the fuel line. Actually, we replaced one that we had put on before, but it went bad for some reason. Just crawl under there, hold the pump and bractet to the frame and you will see what has to be done.

lift pumps

Try to calculate the cost of cheaper fuel and suptract the cost of extra fuel filters and new pumps and see if there is savings to be had my filters are always clean and last for at least a year with about 60,000 kms on them never even had the WIF light come on touch wood .

I have never had the WIF light come on... even after a bad load of fuel and a filter 2/3 full of water. BTW it was some of the most expensive fuel I have paid for: sometimes more expensive is just more expensive.
