I'm thinking of placing my Prodigy brake controller in the cubby (I have a full "hole", no switches). It sticks real nice with just a piece of foam rubber on top, to push it into the bottom rubber.

I'd like to run the wires out the back/bottom corner (the rubber piece lifts up in the back). Can I just drill/dremel a hole, without tearing the dash apart, or will I hit something (wires?)? Will the wires just fall through to the floor, or will I need a snake?

If I have to, is it hard to pull the dash apart (how do I do it)?

If I recall correctly, that part of the dash comes apart easily. Take out the screw from the purse/trash bag hook and the rest just snaps off.

I don't remember anything you will hit in there but you'll probably have to take the dash panel off anyway to get the wires routed so I would just do it first. Like Blakers said, it isn't difficult.

Remove the screw mentioned above, open ash tray and cup holder of you have an automatic. The dash panel pulls straight off and there will be a few wires plugged onto theback of it you need to unlug after it's released. No big deal. Good luck.

I installed the Prodigy in the cubby under the AC controls. I have a auto and assume the dash is the same. I drilled a hole in rear left lower corner and snaked the wires through. Take the ash tray out and you can feel the corner of the cubby. You should put some padding under the controller to angle it slightly upward.

I don't know the dimensions of the Prodigy, but after doing my gauge install utilizing the cubby hole, I feel you should have little, if any difficulty at all, with your project. Best of luck and post some pics !

Prodigy in cubbyhole

That is where I have my Prodigy mounted. As I recall, the rubber liner comes out completely. I took a couple of screws out, including one, I believe in the ashtray area, and the panels just popped out. I think there were about 3 wire connector plugs that I had to unplug, but they were dissimilar enough that there was no chance of connecting them up wrong. Once out, I cut a hole big enough for the connector on the end of the loom to fit through, and it fits very nicely. Enough of the Prodigy sticks out that you can easily reach the lever on the bottom. It sits quite level, and at times on acceleration will give me the error (flashing dashes, as I recall) that indicates it is right on the edge of needing to be tilted nose up a little. I have jammed a piece of rubber on the top in back and under the front to add that slight tilt and hold it in tightly. A great and handy location, and not in the way of the shifter at all... .
