California 4-wheeling trip report (very, very long)

Wow, I must be in hillbilly heaven!! Costco is opening up in Austin and now we have both a Costco and a Sam's. I hear everyone talking about them, just wondering if anyone can compare the two...

In our neck of the woods

Costco is 3 times the quality of Sams.

Costco saves our family several hundred $$$$ per year :)

Wife and I call Costco the "Hundred Dollar Store" since we can never get out of the place for less that $100. We sure spend a lot there every year, on just about everything. They do have good stuff and prices are reasonable. Don't have a Sams here to compare it against.

In new communities Costco usually starts out with a one year free membership... . soooo get one and try them out then YOU can compare. . head to head

DISCLAIMER. . I MANAGE A COSTCO

Damn!! You can make it out of there for $100?? I can't seem to make it out for less than $150 - $200. I guess my suggestion is stay away from both of them. They're addictive, expensive... ... ... ..... :D :D :D Wait- that sounds like our Rams..... Ummmm... ... The neat thing about Costco is they carry things you can't live without and never knew about:) :). And of course, must have!!!

We shop at both. Sam's Club has some things Costco doesn't and vice versa. Depends what you are shopping for. We go to Costco more often since they are closer and have 3 of them on the island of Oahu. According to Costco's records, when we renewed our membership this past June, we spend $6300 there the previous year... ... dog food and bathroom tissue sure adds up. The Costco stores here are the highest grossing stores in the entire Costco chain. Ditto for the Sam's Club here also.

I'm pretty lucky. In Sacramento, the eastern end closest to me, there are a Costco and Sam's club within 1/2 mile from each other. I've had memberships at each over the years. They are fairly similar here, one will have a few items the other doesn't, and vice versa. I have always preferred Costco though. Have been a member since it was Price Club.

Gary, didn't know exactly what you did for a living. Pretty cool to know now

I love Costco. I love them so much I am thinking of buying into a bit of stock. Its around 38/shr righ now.

Was a member of Price Club in SoCal. Always liked Costco. Liked Gary on TDR, too. Makes some sense, eh?

Our Costco adventures average $400 because 1)I dislike shopping and 2)Costco's prices can't be beat when you compare one-stop shopping to drive-around coupon clipping (sucks). On more than a dozen occasions, I have shopped around for a larger ticket item (i. e. refrigerator, clothes washer) and ended up back at Costco where I should have bought initially and saved a wasted day of driving around. Costco rules.

BTW - Good to hear from Gary again:)

Also what is great about Costco is there return policy. I have returned/exchanged stuff as long as a year out. No questions asked. Great customer service!

Costco is better than Sams. I have trouble with Costco though. We always spend more money there, because we see stuff that is too good to pass up and buy it when we don't need it. Like today, Mrs Doc went to get milk and meat and ended up with a pile of toys for the nephews and nieces for Christmas
