2005 Lone Star Value Group - Sirrus?

newbie with a stock 98.5... guidance?

Sold my '06 RT Charger and bought a used RAM and duck boat.

I found the window sticker in the glove box, but I can't figure a few things out. Can someone out there help me? The truck is bone stock except for batteries and air box.

What is the difference between the HO and regular engine? Is it injectors, computer chip, emissions? Horsepower ratings? Mine is California emissions and the timing cover says 235 HP, is this the HO?

Is there a way to tell the diff. gear ratio without jacking up the rear end and counting drive shaft rotations? My truck runs ~76 mph @ 2000 rpm on stock size LT265/75R16E tires.

Do these trucks have 4 wheel or rear wheel ABS?

Thanks,

B

First off buy the factory service manual for it, as it will be a wealth of information.

Now with that said, you have a standard truck with a Dana-70 with possibly 3. 73 or 3. 54 gearing. The Dana-70 is because you have an automatic transmission and the HP will be 235 with about 460 ftlbs of TQ and a HY-35 turbo

The H. O. which I have has a specalized variant of the VP-44 for greater fuel injection pressure than yours, different pistions for higher compression and a HX-35 turbo with a Dana-80 rear end and 6 speed NV5600 transmission. Stock hp is 245 with 505 ftlbs of TQ.

Towing difference will be about 4000 lbs less ratings for yours than a 6 speed H. O. by the book. I could be off on this one as I do not have the book right in front of me.

I thought the choice of gears was 3. 54's or 4. 10's? Anyways , look on the bottom side of the hood or inside the glove box for an ID label, it should tell you which gears the truck came with( provided no one swapped them out).

Thanks guys. I'm certain the gearing hasn't been swapped out. I bought the truck from the original owner and the only thing he ever did was change out the air box and add leveling spacers. I'll give the glove box the once over. Thanks again.

Glove box says 3. 55. So why does my truck turn 2000 rpm at 76 mph? Tire size? I have the original 265 tires on the truck which was an upgraded option.

265 tire size was the stock tire for that truck. A set of 285's will fit the stock rim with no problems. You will need to either buy an ABBOTT Ratio controller to correct or a Smarty :) to reset for the bigger tire should you go there. The Smarty would be the choice as it will give you more low end snap/grunt of the line and bring a big :D Guages firs of course before you do this. ;)

I will most likely put 315 tires on next year when these wear down, but in any case the transmission is the next thing on my list before I start upping horsepower. Should I get guages before the transmission? Where do I get those  cool looking guages that go on the A pillar?

Guages are considered by many to be an absolute first mod before all others. The reasoning behind this thinking is that it allows you to get use to using them and working with them as a diagnostic tool and then when you do upgrade to more horse power, you can verify the changes and also be able to keep your right foot within acceptable limits before doing damage. ;)

PM me your vin I can tell you more about your truck, also the speedo can be set very easily with a drb,(when your trans gets done ;) )
