I am looking at an early 01 (drum brakes) truck. It's a 2500, Reg cab, 4x4, with the HO engine and 4. 10 gears. It's got 135,000 miles on it. Body's in basically perfect shape. Interior is great except for little wear in seat and armrest. He's replaced all the parts that went bad on the front suspension. Lift pump was replaced around 35,000 miles ago, and injector pump was tested, but was okay. He also says the truck was serviced religiously, and I guess he has all the records to prove it. It's also got a gooseneck ball and brake controller. It has straight piped factory exhaust, otherwise it's stock. Front tires are like new, and the rears have about 50% left. It's got a diamond plate toolbox and rumming boards.

He wants $20,000 for it. Seems a little much to me. What do y'all think? Also, what should I check out when I go take it for a test drive? Thanks gang

Last Sept. I picked up a '99 3500 dually with 62,000 mi, new tires and fully set to tow, controller included for $19,500. It sounds like a little much to me, especially with the miles. Good luck in your search.

It may be too much for a Reg cab, but check it out on NADA.com.

That is a little steep, I got my 01. 5 Quad cab with 50K on it for 23K, and it was in mint condition and it never towed anything. Gooseneck ball tells you it has towed a ton of weight. And if you don't plan on towing a lotta weight, I would not get one with a 4. 10 gear. Get a 01. 5 or an 02 so you get the disc brakes on the back. There are a lotta HO 6-speed trucks out there to choose from with a lot less miles on them. Test drive, Hmmm, see if it tries to change lanes on it's own like mine did, (Track Bar) also find out if it still has the stock clutch, if it does, look at another truck.
