I'm going to look at 93 extended cab with a 5. 9 Cummins (leaving as soon as I finish this post) and am asking you "gurus" as to what would be a fair price. I know you need pics and will post some when I return.

Here's what I know; the transmission is shot (auto), has some rust issues in the lower quarters and the owner said he had a hard time starting. The truck supposedly has 200,000 kilometers, which is about 120 miles.

Pics to follow... ... ...

Depending on the rust, and that you need a $2000 transmission, I'd go no more than $2500, unless the rest of it was just real nice, which I somehow doubt. Less if the rust is worse than a paint bubbling. Not sure about the hard starting w/o more info- cuold be a 5 yr old filter, could be pump and injectors. Also check the front suspension, it could be as bad as the one at Smokehouse Diesel, and be a big lawn ornament.

Here's some pics... ... ... ... ... ..... rusty below the doors, wiring issues in the cab!!!! It's been sitting for two years now.

Anything not driveable is tough to price, now you don't know about the differentials, death wobble, front end parts bent or shot or how the diesel runs under load, also much depends upon if you want the rockers repaired or not, the body looks pretty decent other than rust and rockers are available. If you farm out the work, body/ paint stuff is 10 times more expensive then mechanical. Looks like a good fixer upper either way.

I'd say $$1500 - 2000 or less becuase of trans / miles and do you have access to a trans?. . the rockers are real easy to fix and if that is the only rust then its a fast easy fix you can do if you weld . . etc. . the truck looks pretty good to me . . capt. s chairs and every thing. .

looks like a custom tail gate too

thanks

The Plan

I have all of the componenets to redo the transmission in my W350, but I don't do transmission work, so the plan was if I could buy this thing at a reasonable price, I would take the transmission out and ship it off to DTT and have them do the transmission. I managed to buy a complete rebuild unit off a TDR member awhile back, but DTT does not carry any 1st gen cores.

Once the transmission came back i would put the rebuild in my W350 and put the one out of my W350 into this truck.

I also have the PODS, HX35 that would go into the W350. Would give me a chance to wrench on a project.

My thoughts on why I am considering buying this thing.
