Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) HELP! Fuel Shutoff selenoid

Ok, I know this is a common question, but not enough people have the HRVP44 to give me a good idea.

The reason I am asking this now (rather then run another dyno), is that I just got my con OFE to slip today.

I underestimated the fuel pressure/volume drop I got with the stock fuel lines I guess. But I just replaced ALL the fuel line with 1/2" line (all from Vulcan), directly from the draw straw, through two LPs (8 psi then the stock one), up to the HRVP44.

I hadn't tapped the pump wire until now, as I didn't want to take any chances with that until I KNEW I had enough fuel to the new VP. SO I tapped the pump wire at the same time.

Had a few problems with fuel pressure, and it ended up being a bad bypass valve in the 8 psi carter. New carter, zero problems, great pressure!

Ok, so my first tow with this current setup.

Towing very light, only about 3,000 lbs total of trailer/load.

Had the comp on 2x2.

Going up a 7% grade I goosed it a little in 6th, about 1700 rpm. Clutch slipped some, but I got out of it fast.

I tried it a couple more times, but it help.

In the flats, I turned the comp up to 3x3 to make sure I didn't just spin the tires. NOPE, rpm goes up fast, mph goes up slow. No good.

The truck hasn't cooled down yet for me to check much out, but I am wondering if I am beyond what the Con OFE should handle.

I didn't really think I should be making THAT much right now, but I wanted to see what everyone else is getting with a setup like mine.

Thanks!

Yeah, I know that the number don't actually stack, and that there really isn't a good solid number for the HRVP44 (they say between 60 to 100 on a stock truck).

I was thinking around the 420 to 430 area myself. But until I dyno it, I really won't KNOW.

And with the stock turbo, I am not getting enough air in to make all the power that is there.

As for the clutch, I talked with Peter this morning, and it might be the clutch reseating itself because I just bumped my power up. So I will try it for a while, and if it doesn't work, I will try out the newer version of the OFE, which has around 400 lbs more clamping force.

I don't want to run the FE on this 2wd truck. Without a low range, backing up the 5ver and other heaveir loads would be a nightmare!

Funny and sad, I always planned to get around this power level, and make sure it does what I want (It does, I am very happy with it). Now I keep finding the little weak links. Fuel (knew that one), clutch (thought I had that one covered), intake and turbo.

It's a never ending battle.

It's just a good thing that my wife LOVES this truck. She thinks all the power is great, and she gets a kick out of leaving people behind to smell the smoke.

Thanks guys, this was what I was thinking. I just didn't want a big surprise here.
