Mine gets 14. 8 stop and go mileage empty. I get 11. 5 pulling my loaded fiver at 70. I don't do any better empty or pulling a horse trailer. I can get nearly 20 at 55, but who drives 55? I'll get rear-ended if I do! I don't see what all the fuss is about the 600's. I shoulda got one instead of searching for an 03!!! :{

I think the difference in milage between the 305/555 and the 325/600's is very little, especially with the new TSB to help the 600's. I've seen many posts of 305/555 owners complaining about poor milage. BTW, if you are getting 20 MPG at 55 MPH with an auto 4WD, that's about right on target from what I see. Most of the claims of 20+ MPG are people taking it real easy on the highway, and should not be considered "normal".

I'm at about 17 stop and go. Also about 17 crawling through the dersert in 1st-2nd-3rd gear. 70 mph cruise (empty) was 20. 1 average (over 7000 miles) before I lifted it, not so aerodynamic now at about 19. All of these numbers came up by 2 mpg with the addition of a timing box.

I agree with Ken. The '03 gets a little better mileage and the '04. 5 has a little more power. I'm happy with both of mine, although if I were you I wouldn't feel bad about having an '03 HO as the power difference is slight. Personally I'm ecstatic to have a 300+ hp, 8338 lb dually 4x4 truck that can get up to 20 mpg. I think some peoples expectations are a little high. Then again, I still remember getting 12. 3 mpg empty highway with my 1992 F-150 2WD shortbox 351 auto.

I'm avg 17 MPG city with a fair amount of stopping and starting. On the 2 highway (empty) trips I 've taken I got 21. 4 and 21. 7 MPG respectively. Never once complained about it.

I've been getting 19. 5 with mine for quite a while. Since I now have 25K I'll need to do a hand calc again soon. I've even gotten as high as 22 while doing 50mph through the National Parks for near tankfuls. And thats for a 4x4 dually. Plumb happy with this rig. :) :p :D
