Ok this thread may be pointless but I got to say I got a complement from an old girlfriend last night on my new truck. I took her out for New Years and on the way to the party she told me that my truck made her feel like she was in an airplane. All I have to say is that made me feel real good, I looked at her and said that is the best thing you could have said to me about my truck and she looked at me like I was crazy. :D :D Thank god for Turbos, because that is the sweetest sound, and the 3rd gens whistle is very very loud. corey

father in law gave me a good one

won two races since i've built the truck ...

one against a lifted (37's) 4 door long bed duramax "yeah she's got TWO boxs on her ... i outran a cobra mustang" 100$ later he wasn't so cocky ... a month later he bought a 1/2 ton dodge hemi ...

second was a lifted (38's) 4 door short bed powerstroke ... he wouldn't say what he had but he had no gauges that i could see from the drivers window ... he was closer ... nice guy ... no money but same results :D

compliment was given to my father in law ...

he was running his dozer on my sister in laws house site ... contractor showed up in a lifted (seems like a trend) 'stroke with a cowl induction hood

the contractor saw my father in laws 5k mile '01 3500 creampuff

and started talking and he told my father in law that he always ran with the box cranked up ... said the beeping drove him crazy

he told my father in law that he used to think he had a fast truck but "there's some guy around here with a red dodge sport that looks stock but is faster than a cobra mustang" :-laf

my father in law just chuckled ... couldn't wait to tell me ...

and no the wife has no idea about the acceleration contests and no i won't be racing any cobras and yes i took off all the sport stickers

Its a toss up between the front grill change I did.

I used a painted to match Laramie grill frame with chrome cross, and added the insert which is chrome from a Sport model that tamed down the big nose.

And the look of no badges on the body. Odd though is that the compliments come from non Ram owners.

I would say the best one I ever got was when the girl said "I've never seen one that big before". :-laf

The guy I sold my house to speaks no English; he moved here from Columbia and started a trucking company. On closing day, he looked at my truck with a huge grin and said, "good truck" and patted the hood affectionately.

i know i dont have a 3rd gen but was told today "your truck sounds good, i thought it was the garbage man coming down the road this morning!" :D

Its not a 3g,but about my 2000. My childrens tutor is a nice woman about 40 or so,and not the type id expect to be at all; impressed by the sweet sound of the cummins. Anyway i drop and pick my kids up weekly, the road she lives on is a 55mph road, and there is a guard rail as soon as you pull out. With my PDR twins singing thru the AFE fitler, and 5" exhaust its gotta be the sweetest sound you ever heard, when i pull out and roll into it,and let her run thru the first 3 gears about 1/2 throtttle, the twins sound is intoxicating, then the DTT trans shifts so nice and solid you get a small peep out of the tires on the 1-2 shift. One day about a month a go i roll in,and she says Wow,you pulled out of here last week, and ive never heard anything sound that good and powerful. She went on for a few minutes, then yells upstairs for her husband to come down so they can both listen to me leave. She then politely asked that i (do it again) when i left :-laf . A lot of times when i leave she will walk to the door to get a listen of the twins singing off the guard rail. I gotta feeling her hubbys next truck wont be another chevy :D .

Mines just an old first gen. Two summers ago I was at a pull up in Milledgville Il. I pulled my gasser, then some hot rod diesels pulled(one was propuller, he won  ) First time I had seen some hotter single turbo trucks run. One of them lost a turbo and head gasket in the pull off. He had driven his truck about an hour and half to the pull, with no way of getting it home that night. I asked him if he wanted me to haul it home for him. So we slid my gasser all the way forward and got his red second gen on the back. Then we took off for his house.

I took it as a big complement when a guy with about 500 hp, mitchell clutched, pulling truck, said about my first gen "this truck runs pretty good!" Oo. His second gen was faster down the quarter then his late model trans am was.

The other one was a buddy that rode in my truck pulling heavy again. We went somewhere with a bunch of his friends- told them my truck was the best running diesel he had every rode in- even better then a modified p- joke one of their buddy's had. :D

Best complement I got came from a guy I work with. He always tells everyone that I sound like a D**n Dumptruck when I get on it getting on the freeway.

He still can't get his 03 powerpuke w/edge juice to sound as good!!!

Had to be from a guy in a 2000-ish Mustang, after dusting him at a light... "D***, that thing is FAST!!!" I replied, "Yeah, it likes to show off in front of Fords" :)

quiet

A coule weeks after we bought it, spent a week in an RV park in Hendersonville, NC and the 70 something gentleman across the lane commented on the 4th or 5th day that he saw it had temporary plates and was obviously new. Thought having gotten the dually, 4WD, stick were all a great choice for pulling our 35' fiver, but wondered why I hadn't gotten the diesel... I didn't have to but I opened the hood and let him look... I really hadn't run at much more than an idle in the RV park, so he made an easy mistake... :)

The FORD truck owners/drivers that I come up on or next to at a stop light that LOOK!Some G. M. also but more Ford 6. 0 owners. I want a tag that says I CAUGHT YOU LOOKING! Wife and I catch them doing this all the time. We wave and SMILE.

and the 3rd gens whistle is very very loud

Hate to pop your bubble... but thats the driveshaft/center bearing/Ujoint :-laf

"I've never seen one that big before"

What so cool about a beer belly? :-laf

Ahem, chortle... great thread. Well, my wife said "How could you take such a beautiful truck and make it soooo ugly!" Needless to say she is not a flatbed fan. #ad

Compliment

I'm a part time non-resident outfitter up here and the best compliment we've (me and my Ram) had to date came from one of my hunters and it went something like this , "damn this thing is fast, I'm going home to buy me one". He called two weeks ago to tell me he bought an '05 2500 CTD!!!!!

I had two guy's in a Durango following me up and down the hills with thier windows down, at the bottom of the 1 mile hill they stopped, thumbs up, I take it they liked the sound of those 4" duals :D

Ok maybe this thread wasn't so pointless, it appears to me that alot of us get compliments and usually they apply to the cummins engine :D :D how great is that. :-laf I had another one last night from a friend and it was " who would of figured a truck this big and heavy could get sideways that easy"  all thanks to the juice! :-laf
