What is the best fuel pump for the money - fuel/air separater? And what is a DDII?

I have the carter 4601hp from summit racing. have replaced it once in 20k and also looking for a better replacement.

I don't know what your price range is, but my vote is for the RASP. They are pricey, but they should be the last pump you'll ever need. Do a search is you're interested or PM me; there's some pretty good info.

Wow, that's a loaded question - the one you only have to buy once and never requires replacement - if anyone knows of such a beast please post part number and supplier phone number.

I looked at just about everything available before I went with the RASP... . There's a ton of stuff on this site about fuel pumps and you can waste a lot of time reading (I did!)... for my money and for what you get, the RASP is the BEST!

I got a FASS installed for 750. It was worth it b/c it's done and I've got a shop close for warranty fixing/replacement.







I'd also pay attn to what shops you have close and what they peddle. That way you can get better service.

A DDII is a stage 2 fuel injector from Diesel Dynamics. I think they are good for about 75 more HP than stock. The answer to the first question is hard to prove. I mean, you can go all out on a lift pump setup, and still have the VP44 poof out on you when you least expect it. The answer might be better stated as which pumps to avoid using. And how to keep your intake tube screen from clogging up so your pump doesnt have to work so hard to keep from cavitating.

I second Airdog,had one of the very early Fass--became noisey after pulling the travel trailer for the first time,i think it was draining the fuel basket(150GPH model). Company i bought from took it back i paid the difference for the Airdog,smaller/very quiet,happy so far--had it or about 1-1/2 years. PS---- RASP just came out after i bought my Airdog or i would of looked at that too. DW
