I'm tossing around the idea of puttin dual stacks on my truck. Ive got 4" from the turbo straight piped back to one 5" stack. Some people I have talked to seem to think if I put dual stacks on it, it will quieten the sound, which I dont want :D. Im wanting this to be my final setup if I do decide to change the exhaust. So I need your help in telling me what is the BEST SOUNDING and/or LOUDEST exhaust you have heard or have on a 24 valver. Whether it be 3,4, or 5" exhaust, dual exhaust, 4,5, or :D 6" stack(s). LETS HEAR IT GUYS :--)

My opinion, concerning loudest, is a single 4" stack fed by a straight pipe underneath. Or a side exit straight pipe in front of the rear wheel. Again I think the 4" is a good size but my 3" seems louder than some 4" systems I've heard.

I first heard a 4" single stack last summer. This truck sounded really mean pullin out on the road. Usually when I heard stacks before, they were twin 5" or something like that. FWIW.

Before I put my stacks on I only had a 4'' downpipe from airflow research. LOUD!!!! Women and kids hold their ears. Most people give the WTF look. After the stacks it really didnt change the loudness but a little bit. Quieter in the cab and a deeper exhaust tone. the duals were definately worth the $$$. IMHO

To Quote a infamous TDR member STACKS RULE!! I just put on stacks and have asked my self why I waited? The sound is awesome under slite load or short shifting and on the top end it bellars quite nicely. I have found the sound I was lookin for. Now if the cops leave me alone I will be happy, it seems I have seen more cops since I have stacks now?

I have had stacks now for about 4 months... ... started with miter cuts even with my cab (standard cab)... ... . just recently changed to turnouts over the cab about 6".

I work with a guy who has a 98 12V straightpiped out the back... ... it is SO MUCH louder than mine... I miss it... . :{

I wish I had gobs of money to spend I would just take the stacks off and buy a 4" system from Rip Rook, but now its go me wondering if I want stacks or go back to a pipe because honestly guys the single pipe is a helluva lot louder. :rolleyes:

Loud Try This

If you want loud and want to draw attention try 5" straigt pipe exiting in front of the rear wheel at a 90 degree angle to the body. :--) I liked the sound but the olume was up there. It got me 3 noise violations in the first two days. :mad: Shortly thereafter came a nice shiny straigt through muffler. It was loud enough to make people in cars on your right side about jump out of their seat. And exiting in front of the rear wheel it looks big enough to swallow a small boy.

We just stacked my sons truck. He had a 3" straight pipe. Now he has dual 4" stacks. His truck is actually quieter now but it has a real good sound Oo.

Until you put the hammer down :--)

I went from a stock exhaust strait piped to a 4" feeding 5" stacks, and for me stacks are way louder. Just ask my neighbors!:D My buddy has a 4" strait piped exhaust and his is definitely quieter while idling but seems to be about the same at full throttle. The stacks seem to be a bit deeper sounding
