have you ever used 1 to 2 oz of acetone for 10 gal of diesel fuel

some say acetone is great to add to fuel

as long as it's 100% pure with no benzoate in it

I have never used it so I don't know

thanks

I would be afraid to use it because of all the rubber and plastic fuel hoses dodge used between the tank and the pump. Also the sad unit in the tank made of some brittle plastic (space age?)that dodge calls the tank module(240. 00+). Also what about the plastic fuel tank?

My buddy mark (Torque This) put some in his tank last night along with some veggie oil. Kinda looked like a mad scientest mixing all that stuff last night. Was waiting for him to pull out some nestle quick or something next. . :-laf

I heard about that acetone thing. I tried it in my neon. If anything, my mileage went down a few. Scientifically, it sounds like a good idea, but if it does work, it isn't worth risking our expensive pumps and injectors for a measly . 5 MPG. Use some MMO. Your injectors will thank ya for it! And, MMO is cheaper than acetone.

good point we need to do more research some say it makes youy engine last longer and run quieter and smoother with no smoke but we will see

thanks

I am in the middle of my 53 block replacement and the block is at the machine shop so I filled up the truck yesterday at 3. 11/gal

Anyway, on the way home, mind you it was freeway but I have never really gotten like 25 on the overhead when going 70. I have the Hew HX 35/40 hybrid and All I can think of is the larger housing on the exhaust is less restrictive, so maybe this will help.

My dad does the Acetone in his Taurus Wagon. He thinks it is helping a little...

don't use acetone with BENZOATE in it

use 100% pure acetone

1 to 2 oz for every 10 gal of fuel

as for me i'm still looking in to it

thanks

I dont care who ya are that is funny right there :-laf

I couldn't agree with DNink24 more. Even if it was a couple miles more per gallon. The chance of putting my Cummins in the toilet is not one I'm prepared to take.

And just for my own education, what is MMO anyway?

I tried it. Works better than Nestle Quik, but didn't really do much for the MPG or performance. Gave up because of the hassle and risk of spilling it down the side of the truck.

My father who worked on diesel engines in Europe, was using xylol (type of solvent, I thin stronger than acetone). The main thing here is he used it only in the winter. Never had problems starting, and the winters there are really long and cold.
