Whats the difference in the 250hp and 305 hp engines?

What changes were made from the 250hp to the 305hp engines. Can the 250 engines be reflashed to the 305 specs?

The 250 does not have an oil jet that sprays the under sides of the pistons like the 305. think but am not sure the injectors are different. The auto trans in the 250 has one less clutch plate than the 305( if its the 48re some 250s came with the 47re in 2003 )
I think all the 250s come with a 10. 5 rear and most 305s a 11. 5 but I am not sure.

Standard output 250's had a smaller flywheel (5 speed).

Different ECM program.

Pistons used a piston cooling nozzle instead of J jet.

Pistons are specific to the 250, no opening on the under side for the directionalized J jet spray.



Other than that, there is not much different and basically the same engine as the 305.

sorry-lol- i also have a 01 ho rated 245 hp- 505tq . the injection system is way different. cummins wont give you any more. tst and others will.
