Wife was following me home the other day and I thought I was running 60mph. Wife says I was going much faster than that and she couldn't keep up.

I bought the truck used and the tires that are on it now are 235x85 16's. Is this the normal size or are they a bit talller?

I'm trying to figure out just how far off the speedometer and odometer are.

thanks, Scott

Scott,

What year is the truck? My 1996 3500 had LT215/85R-16's. My 2002 has LT235/85R-16's. The backspacing on the wheels is different. I think they changed over in 2000 - if I'm wrong, someone will be along to set me straight shortly.

Thanks toolman,

I figure that must mean that I'm around 4mph off.

I guess I need to take that in to account when I'm calculating my fuel mileage also.
