What's the fluid capacity on the ATS trans and 5-Star converter??

Anyone know offhand what the total capacity in quarts is on a ATS (48RE & 2WD) trans with the deep pan and the 5-Star converter??

Of course I'm draining the pan and changing the filter as well as draining the converter at it's drain screw.

I have been trying to find enough of the Mopar ATF+4 fluid at a decent price at the Wally World stores. I think it's near 5 gallons but I can't remember from the last change and just didn't want to come up short.

Mine took about 17. 5 Qts if I remember right. 4 gallons should get you started and go from there. I drain the convertor as well so if you dont then those #s maybe high.

Thanks for the input. I think I have 19 quarts of the Mopar ATF+4 sitting on the shelf so I should be good to go.

If you don't mind me asking, "What type fluid did you use when servicing your trans?" I'm reasonably sure ATS doesn't require the "+4" but I had several quarts already and thought it would be the way to go.

I would stick with the ATF+4. It's hard to find ATF+3 now, and from what i've been taught, the +4 is just a synthetic form of +3.

If you have a stock pan, the capacity is 17-18 qts. A "Deep-Dish' pan will add about 4 qts more. The +4 Flluid is the best type to use.

I believe I'll use this Mopar stuff this time since I already had a fair amount. I may try something like the Amsoil next change. I've been changing the fluid once a year due to the ATS warranty requirement. However, since I retired the truck doesn't get that many miles and now the ATS 3 year warranty has expired so I'll probably go a couple of years before it racks up enough miles to require another fluid change. Heck, everytime I changed the fluid it always looked like new and I never found much of that gray sludge in the pan either.
