Here's an easy question: I have BFG's 295/75 on my stock rims, and was wondering if they were the largest to fit inside the front wheelwell without rubbing. Anybody out there running something larger, as I'm about ready for another set, and don't know if I can go bigger.

P. S. I don't really want to go the Rickson route right now.

Skunk,
I don't know, 295's are pretty big but I imagine you might be able to get 302 or so in there but it wouldn't make that much difference. Unless you are going to get a lift, I would stay where you are at on size.

I am running the 295's in the BFG All Terrain
They have a bit more tread width than the Goodyears. I am starting to get some rubbing on the inner wheel wells at the plastic. When I first installed the tires I had no problem but after the suspension relaxed a bit then the rubbing started. The 305's were worse if I remember because they are a bit shorter but wider.

CAUTION, some 4x4 Rams can run BFG 295s without rubbing, others cannot. I haven't heard of a 4x4 Ram that has had any problems with rubbing 285s though.

I just ordered the ProComp 305/70/r16s. Anyone out there running them? Any rubbing? Either way I'll let you know shortly.

One of my friends is running 305/70/16 on a 2000 and his only rub a little on the inside he has about wore the tread out and the rubbing has not made any grooves in the side wall.

I know it's not apples to apples, but the BFG's on my 1/2 ton are at 70k and still good. I blew the sidewalls on 3 of of 4 of the Goodyears when I had them on.

SandDemon -

I know what you mean. I had some BFG's on my 1/2 ton, and I got over 85K on them before I sold the truck. But for some reason, the 4X4 and the 3/4 ton just wears them out.

My 295/75's don't rub at all, and it even looks like I've got a lot of extra room - that's why I asked the initial question. Anyway, it looks like I'll stick with what I've got. Also, do the Goodyears wear longer than the BFG's? I've got 35K on my BFG's, and it looks like I can maybe go another 5K is all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No clue which will last longer. I have 25000 on my BFG's and hope to see another 10-15000. All my buddies run the Goodyear and we are looking about the same for wear.

I've got almost 70K on a set of BFG 285/75/16 All Terrains and am due for new ones. Pretty good if you ask me. Rotate them every 10k. I'm very pleased with these tires. I will probably replace them with the same thing.

I've got Goodyear 305's on the '99. 38k mi. to date. Will go into the fall with them, but will have to replace before winter, maybe at 50k? Probably could run them further if going into summer. Good performance on all terrain except mud. No rubbing on street and jobsite, no off-roading. These tires measure out like a 33x12. 50,(32" measured height), what do the BFG 295 AT's measure?
