The '94 year thing (some with & some without) was probably due to an emissions regulation that (most likely) took effect on 1/1/1994. That maybe why some 94s don't have them...
It had something to do w/ the GVWR is what I was told awhile back. But the guy that told me said it was only for 3/4 tons, so I dont know if it holds any truth or not. I haven't come across an early 94 1 ton yet to see if it had a cat or not.

I had the Catalytic Converter removed by a shop on my 96 Dodge Diesel in 2000. It is not a problem here in Montana. I really don't know if it made a difference. I had the 290 hp chip and engine brake. Have a great day.
