Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) what's the real proven fix $ cause of the eratic torque convertor lock-up?????

My truck started the erratic lock-up this past week-45-50 in and out real quick.

I cleaned the battery posts and it is gone now. I like easy fixes. !!!

The posts were in terible condition too.

glad that this info helped you mr greenwood. i was having fits with my transmission shifting in and out of lockup pulling up into las vegas with a big 5th wheel in tow from southern calif. called joe donnelly and he put me in touch with craig at dodgeland in las vegas. this information came from craig. he said 9 out of 10 times it is this connection. thanks to craig for the info.



actually craig said if this worked to cut the connector out and solder the cable together. then no more problems with connector.

i just rewire the apps/ecm connection. that has fixed over 200 trucks so far for me.

I hope this works it,s my first time. I have a99 ram and had this same problem but with a twist. My overdrive would also turn on and off. I had about 54,000 miles on my truck when this started to happen. The dealer I took it to worked on it off and on for four months. With CTC,s help they found it to be the clock spring in the steering column. This is the ribbon cable going thru the column for all the electrical components in the steering wheel. Such as air bag,cruise control,and the horn. It,s been fixed for almost two years and I now have 114,000 miles on my truck with no problems. I hope this helps.

Now it's time to get bombing ... ... I did not want to do any mods untill I fixed the transmission shift problem but now that"s out of the way . It's time. I just installed my new 4" exhaust and my 275 injectors . "nice power change" I sure do need the boost fooler to feelthe rest of the power. Next thing is the Edge EZ or the Edge Comp. sure would like to find a good deal on a used one somewhere if any one knows of anything out there please email me at RCVIC66@AOL. COM thanks.

I have the exact same prob. It's eratic in the morn then seems to fix itself. I found that cleaning the tps connector with contact/alt. cleaner fixes it for a few days sometimes months...

i have fixed several hundred trucks. the worst are the 95's and 99's... ?
