I talked to a friend of mine who's a fleet manager at a Dodge dealership. I was asking about trading my truck for a 2001 ETH 6sp with four wheel disc. I mentioned NADA and was told that those prices come from the trades dealers make around the country. He said it included upside down trades which partially inflates the NADA trade value. He said I was better off paying it down and trading when the crewcab hits the market.

Have you recently traded in a Cummins?

How much did you get?

What price range would my 4x4 ST sell for if I sell it myself?

I got 18,000 for my 99 on a trade for 2001. 5 ETH/DEE with 4 vwheel discs. I could not take the brake pull or auto any more. I had 67,000 miles on it. I love the new truck. Especially the 6spd and no brake pull. Thee brake are supeior to my 99 on its best day. I am ticked that Dodge could not get the brakes right. I was willing to live with that, but when the transmission went I dumped it. I did fix the trans before I dumped it. I was in good shape on $'s with the 99 now I am back in the hole. I am still ticked at Dodge. I would of changed brands but I feel the Dodge is now what it should of been in 99, at least with the brakes. I would never own another AUTO. If these brakes start pulling I will go POSTAL on their butts!!!!! Good luck andd I sympathize with you. I am still scraping the super glue off my hands andd ankles.

Hey Dave, check out Kelly Blue Book at www.kbb.com. There is an interactive thing where you can type in the features that you have and get a ball park figure for trade-in and retail. It says mine is worth 18,500 trade in. If that doesn't work, send me an e-mail and I will send you the name and number of the fleet manager at the dealer where I bought mine in Lewisville. He says he can sell em quick and he gave me a good deal on trade in when I traded in my 95.

I have a new 2001. 5 ordered that will be in before the end of the year. The dealer is going to give me $20,500 for my truck. I have a 2000 3500 2wd std cab. The Kelley Blue Book site said I should be getting $22,700 for the truck. Go figure.

When I traded my 99auto QC 4x4 SWB the dealer gave me the high trade in value. This was $28,500. This was $2000 more than I owed and worked in my favor. Some dealers arent willing to give high trades. The value is set by the used car manager which is usually a separate department from the new cars. BTW,only had 14k miles on the truck.

Guess I did pretty good, ordered a new "01" with same options as my "99" except the new one has the ETH/DEE. They gave me $27000 with 50K. Another dealer would only go $21000. I also told the dealer my add-ons would be going on new truck. Guess it pays to shop around.

With all the documented problems I have had with my truck, no dealer in this county would take mine in trade at all. Every time I tried to trade it, they made that all so important call to some low life dodge dealer and get the history on my truck. That was all it took. My truck is only worth its weight in scrap as far as a trade goes. Dodge will NEVER get my business ever, even if they claim to have fixed the brake pull. Life is too short to drive a $hitty truck that will with no doubt kill someone due to the poor workmanship of Chrysler and their couldnt care less attitude! 5 Star is crap. My local dealer is a joke. Most likely ALL DODGE DEALERS are a JOKE. BUT ... the joke is on me for writing that $38,000 check for something that is totally worthless on the trade in market.
