Whats the scoop on getting the new line on that goes to back of transmission ? Illinois salt ruined my lines and I`m fixing it in my shop. So far so good but when I get the new ones from dealer I`m concerned about how the back one(the long line) goes on, from back up or from top down.

Yeah I fed the line through from the back. One miserable damned day . Got all lines hooked up,no leaks. Went about 1. 5 up the road and back, didn`t shift right. Rear trans line was cool (the one with the check valve),front trans line HOT ,transmission felt hot. Trans radiator was hot front radiator (big one ) cool. Then I took rear line off started in nuetral and it blasted out of line. To my horror it appeared to be chips in pan the line gushed into. So I dropped trans pan and filter. All clean, nothing on magnet, no chips on trans flter or bottom of pan. ???? If you damage TC would there be chips in trans pan? This has to be fixed ASAP. Such as life. PS Can`t find good heavy /light duty truck, diesel wrench in Quad City Area. One in Gladstone ,IL This has been 6 days leaving customers wondering where I am. We are self employed and spent 5000. 00 on a Goerend trans last Feb. Wish we were closer to their shop but its a 4 hour drive.

When you replaced the trans with the rebuilt one, did you replace or flush the front cooler and remove the drain back check ball?

Did your old transmission have major issues when it was replaced?

The front cooler has a thermostat in it that cannot be cleaned when flushed. It has to be removed and disassembled to have a decent chance of being cleaned.

Old trans had no real trouble. Never even thought bout flushing cooler. Mybe its the thermostat in the front. Trans Plus has it and been riding around with the computer hooked up. I still think its runnin too hot . You can lay your hand on it after 10 minutes drive but not for long. I am suspicious of that thermostat on radiator.

The thermostats will stick closed and all the fluid bypasses the cooler and you have high temps. They are actually cleanable even though Dodge lists them as not serviceable.

Do you have a trans temp gauge? Need one of those to track what is going on.

I know the return line is flowing plenty but it could be the thermostat. I have to go see the guy right now and feed him that info unless they already know. Thanks a bunch we will see what he thinks. Hope digging that out isn`t too bad the clocks ticking and lawns are 2 weeks without a cut.

Back on the road ! It was the output speed sensor! This truck shifts better than ever. The trans guys told me the trans temp will run between 160- 220 degrees. They didn`t think heat was any issue. This guy kept the truck for 1. 5 days until he found problem. 142 bucks for parts and labor. I held my hand on cooler lines when getting home and they are hot. Maybe its just a new awareness or I`m imagining it used to run cooler. It would feel as hot as if you laid your hand on radiator or alternator after regular driving.
