Installed Airtex lift pump now have 25 psi at idle. Maybe to much??I hear there are some trucks that have to use a gage higher than 30 psi. How much is too much??
give us some info on your truck. You'll find lots of opinions on this, but I wouldn't run any higher then 20 or so on a vp. There are guys running over 30psi but usually they are 3rd gen truck with the cp3 injection pump. I don't think the seals and such in the vp's need or like that high of pressure.
I'd suspect your fuel pressure gauge might be in error. An Airtex shouldn't be capable of that much pressure. Mine's never more than about 18psi at idle.
I'd check your fuel pressure using a pressure test gauge set available from Geno's or any good auto parts store.
not trying to start a word war. but not all shops say the same thing. if you want to know a direct answer call a few of the reman shops and call a couple well know diesel shops and see how much of a difference you gather. I run 24 at idle and 19-20 driving and no lower than 14 at wot. however gauges are not as accurate as you would expect mine changes a couple psi due to mine having a constant leak between the gauge and isolator I put more liquid silicon in it and it goes back up. some run anti-freeze in them I dont. I have 20k on this inj-pump from rip no probs and replaced the old oem one at 120k because it was the old brass cyl design.
