I have an 08 with the stupid idiot light for tire pressure and the lite load light. ******* tld me if I don't keep my tires at the pressure on the door, the light will come on and the lite load mode will not work. Does anyone know how to disable this feature? Or should I say p. i. t. a. ?#@$%!

Yes, and unless I put the air pressure rating on the door jamb, the ligh coms on. When loaded I like to run the tires at max pressure listed on the side of the tire, which is different then that on the door.

Is the tire pressure monitor standard in all '08 pickups or do you have a Laramie model?

My 08 2500 Laramie came with the TPS system. The Light Load Mode is for when you decrease the Rear tires to the Lower of the two ratings on the door. When you reduce the pressure, press the button it tells the computer to reset the pressure mark for the rear tires.

The tire ratings that are posted on the door are what the TPS sensors are set too. When you reduce the pressure in the tires with out pressing the Light load switch, it thinks you have a leak.

the early 08's don't have this feature... ... I ended up swapping out the 2500 for a 3500 that was manufactured in July of 07. Thank god no tire pressure light. I love this 3500... ... what was I thinking. Got an auto, too. :):):)

Thought the tire low pressure gizmo was on 1500 and not on 2500 or 3500. Know it is not on the 3500... . surprised it is no the 2500... .

Because of the ruckus between Ford and Firestone tire pressure systems are coming on all vehicles... its now a Federal mandate...

I have an 05 with it on all the wheels, and I assume its on my 08 5500 as this truck had the display on the dash when we took deliver and the manual doesn't say this is an option... I'll know for sure if and when we get a low tire or have one of the tires off the rim...

GM is getting sued because a guy backed over his baby and his Burb didn't have a backup sensor even though the technology was there. Claiming it should be standard, not an option. Horrible accident, but come on. My truck doesn't have side air bags, and I bought it knowing they have them if I want them. Pretty soon every vehicle will have every option and it won't matter because no one will be able to buy them!

My new 2008 3500 dually had the tag on the gearshift also telling about the tire pressure warning but it also said "not on all vehicles". It is not on the dually. I did not realize it was a federally mandated item as of yet. I DID order side curtain air bag option. I had a head on collision in my 2004. 5 and thought the side bags would be a major help if I were ever T-boned. God forbid. The hiway I drive everyday has been under construction for a year now and will be finished until late this year. I do not drive my 08 because of all the rocks and crap. Only have 600 miles in three months on the new one. The 05 has chipped windshield and other chips on it. Will definitely buy a new one when the toaster and coffee maker and built in ice chest becomes standard. :)

Where are the sensors mounted for tire pressure monitors?

My '05 Jeep Liberty CRD has the feature. Had the light come on one time, then never came on again. Checked all tire pressures and they were fine. I assume it must be wireless and mounted around the valve stem? How does it read the info at the computer?

Not sure how it is on the Liberty, but most vehicles I've seen have a sensor mounted on a band around the inside of the rim that sends the signal to the receiver. And it's set for specific values at which it alarms. I know on the Mustang if you change wheels and tires to extreme performance wheels the installer must (at least they say they must) install the sensors on the new wheels and make sure the pressure setting is appropriate for the tires installed if different pressures are used - such as running at 32 PSI stock and going to a tire that runs at 44 PSI, the tire might be dangerous at 25 or whatever pressure the stock sensor alarms at... Didn't know that Dodge had this 'feature' available for new trucks. Another reason to stick with the '06

There are a number of manufacturers that have sensors on the market now. The simplest ones fit over the valve stem. The complicated ones fit around the wheel inside the tire. I have seen a few advertized that may be getting down into my price range. I have a travel trailer with duals, 8 tires on the ground and pull it with a dually 3500 Dodge. I need 14 sensors and they are making them now with prices down into the $500. 00 range. The wrap around the wheel seems to be much more expensive and do not cover as many wheels. Who knows.
