i bought my dodge at the toyota dealership. I was looking at the tundras and seen her. The man who sold the truck traded it for the tundra I was looking at. Kinda funny. It was the first year for tundras and thats why I got a diesel instead.

good move; first year Tundras had brake problems. Besides; you can put a camper in the back of your Dodge! The Tundra is a great car that doubles as a good truck. The Dodge is a great truck that doubles as a decent car.

pick up beds quallity and strength

jsimpson,

I had a 91. 5 that had a stong bed and tailgate. But the ride of that truck was military like, very rough, and noisy, mostly from wind noise around the windows and doors and some from the Cummins. It beat me up to try to get 800 miles a day out of it on a trip.

The 01 has a ride that is heaven compared to the 91. So I guess I will live with the narrower bed in the back and the weaker construction, not that I like either. I use Happi Jac tie downs for the camper and hope they don't twist the front of the bed. Incredible, bed of a Dodge is strong compared to Fords.

I had to take just 2 inches out of my self made 5th wheel tail gate to fit it to my '01 truck. I really have no complaints about the bed etc on the '01, but if you want to compare metal and construction, you should compare them to my 1950 Dodge pickup------that thing really has metal in it. In 1980 when I had to have some body work done on it the old time body man went on and on about how great it was to have real metal to work on.

Even when some idiot took a shot at me it only put a dent in the side of the bed.
