So I have picked up a set of Mach 5's & need to do a twin set up so I dont melt parts together when ocasionally towing 17k. (Still got the 1. 6's in now)

I have been digging around the net looking at all kinds of options & found three places selling this BD kit right off the bat for 2,584. 75

I also need to check the venders on here of course !

Heres the description:

BD DIESEL SUPER B TWIN TURBOCHARGER KIT -- 350-575 HP, Features A Pair Of Stage-Compounded AirWerks S300 Turbochargers To Keep Air Flow High And Exhaust Gas Temperature Low, Comes With A Stainless Steel X-Intake, Flow-Matched Exhaust, Intake Piping, And All Necessary Heat Shields, Great For Towing Heavy Loads With Power To Spare, With Manufacturer's Limited 1-Year Warranty

Part #: B701045325

I'm wanting to know the difference between the two S300 turbo kit & the Super B & S300 kit besides 1,400. 00. (Especially for a street truck & pulling)

Do you think with the Smarty & Comp Box adjusted low, water/meth on & Mach 5's I'd be able to tow my 5er without EGT problems ? (17k lbs. 6 times a yr)

I also could buy 2/3 of a twin kit & use my PDR HX40 as one of the turbos,

But at that price I'd almost rather just go new & sell my 40, I dunno.

Someone teach me something here !!! :D

Thanks---Proflow

Twin S300s are going to be a little laggy but should be great on the mid and upper range.

Not sure about the smarty (don't have it) but my setup runs cooler with the Comp on 1x1 than it does off.

I'd maybe pick a compromise on the injectors. Mach 5s are a lot of fuel, going to see it when you start pulling a grade and take offs.

You are at that nasty point where you need to pick race truck or tow rig.

Depending on how many months the "6 times a year" occurs, an injector swap only takes about an hour. If your towing season is only 5 months out of the year, drop down to the 1. 5s or 2s for the towing season, then drop the 5s back in for the other 7 months.

Swapping them in & out was a thought I also had.

The 5er usually gets pulled in the summer only.

So with that in mind, do you think my HX40 will be enough turbo for those sticks ?

I'm also not against throwing a different single on it & selling my Piers modded 40.

But if the cost between the two is very much, I might as well just do twins.

IMO twins with just enough fuel to drive them is a perfect setup for towing. Little smoke, plenty of boost to help keep the EGTs down, and power when you need it. Throw in a Water/Meth injection for the steeper grades, and enjoy the trip.

This from the guy who wanted to upgrade his turbo and exhaust for near 7 years, and finally was able to do it and went big. I had a long talk with Rip at Source Automotive and decided that the half twin kit and slightly bigger injectors with my Edge Comp was the way to go.

The set of BD Twins that are a pair of S300's are small and spool very quickly. They should be fine towing but may be a tad warm with Mach 5's. and that set. Your Mach 1. 6's would be a better fit for those small chargers. If you had a set with a S400 framed charger down low then you would be better suited to tow the big 5ver with the Mach 5's.

IMO for a 24v a set of twins with a 62mm S300 frame up top and a S400 down low OR a HX40/16 over a HT3B are the best sets for those motors. If I had the injectors choices you have I would run the Mach 5's when I wanted to do performance based shows and then use the 1. 6's to tow with and stay cool... ..... Andy

I think the Mach 5's are too much injector to run on the BD S300 twin's and tow, your boxes would have to be off.

If you want twins to cool Mach 5's you need a 62/475 set, or the BB equivalent ($$$).

Mach 5's just aren't really a towing injector, so its hard to match them becuase at that level your looking to make more heat than the cooling system can contain on a long grade.

I would keep the 1. 6's and run the Super B Twins! You would be amazed with the performance over the HX40.

Twin S300s are going to be a little laggy but should be great on the mid and upper range.

Actually twin S300's will light like no other set (aside from BB twins) and will be stronger low-mid range twins. That's why they are called towing twins.

My bad. My eyes may have read twin S300, but my brain went with S400.

Depending on boost levels, you may want to think about a stud kit if not O-ringing. Doubt you will hit them towing with the smaller injectors, but the 5s likely will.
