The other nite I was returning from the Gatornationals drag race and was tooling home on I-75 when the truck started to act like it had a slight miss around 70 mph or 2200 rpm. It felt in some ways like one of the tires was out of balance but I periodically took my foot off the throttle and the sensation would go away. The truck would respond to more throttle ok but when I got back in that range it would act up again. It ran ok going home but it seemed to just have the problem in that speed or rpm range. I have since had it on the highway again but was unable to reach that speed on the in town by-pass. Truck ran fine though. Anybody have any ideas.

Could be the lift pump... If you had a fuel pressure gauge you'd be able to confirm or eliminate the pump or filter... ;)

Mileage??

If it happens at ONLY that speed (Roadspeed) I would also check U~Joints as a just 'cause. <hr>

Fuel filter has about 5000 mi. on it. That is what I was wondering if the lift pump could possibly be going south. Guess I better invest in a gauge to check it out.

The fuel filter is probably not your problem. That bieng said: It takes 1 min. and no miles to ruin a fuel filter with bad fuel. Always carry 2 spare fuel filters. One load of bad fuel can plug the filter quicker than yesterday. It might take 2 filters to get you to the next exit on the freeway,if that far, and no further. If you do get a batch of bad fuel, the tank must be dropped and cleaned out and probably a new pickup screen.

I have seen tanks with a couple inches of water, or other chemicals and rust, sand, dirt... ... It is ugly:eek:

SFord,

Wash the underside of your truck... ... ..... Probably mud on your driveshaft... ... ... ..... or your problem is driveline related.

My truck just started to do the same thing!! Mostly pronounced around 65-70 mph. I just rotated my tires and felt that might have had something to do with it. It doesnt feel like a miss, more like an unbalanced tire. Keep us posted on your outcome.

Challenger-II, I had just rotated my tires as well a week prior to this trip out of town. This was the first time it had been on the highway at that speed. To me it felt as though it was a balance problem but when I looked back it didnt seem to do it on the way up to Gainesville or may I was traveling at a greater speed. Anyway I'm going to have the tires rebalanced and will post outcome. Thanks for the post... ...

:D :D

SFord... . I hope it is a tire thing. I have noticed that it has diminished since I've been putting on the miles. I can definately say it started when I rotated the tires. Let me know your outcome. :)
