I voted <14mpg because I get around 13 in town. That, unfortunately, is where I do most of my driving. I get 20+ on the highway empty, and 12, pulling my 33ft travel trailer at 65mph. GCVW around 13K.

I drive mine mostly in town, and am averaging 14. 5 mpg, but on the highway unloaded I received 16. 7mpg, and when I tow race car and Haulmark 24 ft enclosed trailer (8000#) I get around 12. 6.

Truck has 13500 on it. Ordered "EZ" box and I can't wait to try it--I am dying waiting on the UPS guy today--it should have been here:(

Its easy to get depressed about mileage listening to all those Powerchoke owners at the pumps, but just remmeber this:

How do you know those guys are lying to you? Easy, thier lips are moving!! :D

I just got back from a 4700 mile trip from Portland, Or down throughout the SW , 4 courners, New Mexico and Colorado back through Montana Idaho, BC and home. I'll tell you I honestly think the type of fuel has a lot to do with the mileage - see the article on the main BB. But I just can't seem to figure out which type gives me the best. I didn't tow anything on that trip, have an above cab Shell - not a camper, have 3. 54, auto, VA plug and power and I averaged 20. 37 MPG. I actually hit 23. 8 going 266 miles from Cortex, Colo to Santa Fe! However when I get back home, I always seem to get between 18-19 - which is mostly in town. When I take long trips, say to Spokane and back, about 700 miles roundtrip, all freeway and driving like I did on the big trip - I never break 20! The only thing I can think is ONE - Higher Elevation, I was running a lot at over 3000', or different fuel! What does anybody think - and by the way I don't baby the thing - I run it usually about 75. However when I got the 23+, I couldn't go that fast because of construction and traffic.

hey brobeson..... NO NO NO!!!!!! I got ABSOLUTELY NO increase in power... . i have always had power empty... . but pulling a load from a standstill has always been fine... . but when loaded on the hiway i have to maintain 2100 rpm or i will lose 6 to 9 mph up the slightest upgrade... . and the mpg loss is horrific... ... looking to trade for a ford i think..... loved my cummins till DC messed with it... . now i cant afford the fuel almost, [slight exaeration]... . but the mpg loss with no resulting increase in power is blah.....

Superdave, what is your rig??? ie... . year, auto/stick, rear gear. ect... Don't let them guys with the Fords blow smoke at you with thier "supposed" mileage. Friend has a Y2K F-350 dually and gets less than I do towing same car as mine and same trailer as mine.

Maybe the "EZ" box is your answer to more power and better economy. Dealer flashed mine the day I picked it up, 7-18-00, so I have nothing to compare mine to, as you did. Hang in there, don't give up yet.

milage

Have seen 20+ MPG since the day I got my truck. I added an EZ box and the milage started creeping up to 21/22 on the open freeway. I have nearly 9K on it now and will be taking a 250 mile trip tonight. can't wait to see! By the way, I see lots of folks driving with their tailgates open, say it helps milage... I tried it and no change... except worry about using it as a bumper! Oh yea I drive an '01. 5 HO 6speed 4X4 quad SWB.

16 mpg when truck was brand new, in Jan 2000.

and now it is 24. 9 mpg, and still young, about 32,000 km.

Best mileage is cruise at 102 KPH. At 110 KPH would get

23 mpg. geez mileage senitive. :)

Now hold on here! How many of you are reporting milage seen on the trip computer!? Everybody knows you cann't trust that thing any farther then you can throw it!

I'm getting 14. 8 to 15. 2 mpg. I record my distance traveled and my fuel used every fill up. Then I go home and break out the calculator because I hate division. It doesn't seem to matter if I average it out over several tanks or figure it at each fill up.

The mileage here is most 25 approx aveage here. The mileage we use are

British measurment imperial gallon. To use the result figure,

fill the tank right till can't fill any more that it, till see diesel

fill the hole of neck. Then reset trip odometer. And then next

refill is when fuel guage is on 1/2. Same process fill right to

fill the hole of neck till couldn't get more. Trip odometer reading

534 km converse to 331. 8 miles. Divide by 13. 30 gal to get 24. 9 mpg. I believe allowance 2% because of odometer reading not

accuarcy. 24. 4 somewhat more likely accuarcy include allowance

2 percent.

I'm patiently waiting for my mileage to go up. I usually get around 14 MPG on the freeway, but then I'm usually pushing about 80 MPH. I just use my GPS for the mileage, since I'm using it as my speedometer anyway. BTW, I'm almost at the 10,000 mile mark. I've had my truck for 2 1/2 months now.

My Mileage is top off to top off of tank with my mileage being miles driven/fuel consumed. I use a calculator. My numbers are very accurate.
